US resident dies from swine flu
Source: BBC News

A woman from Texas has become the first US resident to die from swine flu, health officials there say.

In a statement, the Texas Department of State Health services said it was "reporting the first death of a Texas resident with H1N1 flu.

"A woman from Cameron County who had chronic underlying health conditions died earlier this week," it said.

The woman is the second person to die outside Mexico, after a Mexican toddler died in Texas at the end of last month.

1. I'd like to know what her chronic underlying health conditions were
before I get too worked up (and yes, I live in TX).

4. Was it more than just pregnancy?

I wish the husband well in his task of raising two children without his wife (I'm assuming she was married, if not then I wish her parents well or whoever will raise the children).

3. I'm not one to get worked up for no reason, but this flu thing deserves some concern ,
.
.
.

No, not panic - but intelligent concern.

We had the SARS thing not too long ago, then the bird(avian) flu thing, the mad cow thing

We GOTTA pay attention to these things

because if one gets loose on us, in our intercontinental distribution of goods and peoples

a bad thing can spread VERY quickly.

I don't buy into the "end of the World" scenarios,

but I do think that sooner or later,

us humans are gonna get culled;

by Momma Nature.

We're overdue.
