Neo-Nazis screaming 'Heil Hitler' attack concentration camp survivors during memorial service for 34

Survivors of a Nazi death camp were shot at and abused as they gathered to remember their liberation.

Masked neo-Nazi thugs screamed 'Heil Hitler!' and 'This way for the gas!' at ten elderly Italian men and women, who returned to the site of the Mauthausen
concentration camp in Austria.

The gang also fired air guns at a group of 15 French survivors, many dressed in the striped pyjama-style uniforms they wore as inmates. One suffered a head wound while another was injured by a shot in the neck. The four thugs managed to escape.
Jewish leaders in Austria were appalled by the weekend scenes that marred events marking the 64th anniversary of the camp’s liberation by American troops.

1. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I am not.
Sometimes I wonder, will another Holocaust be ushered in? If so, who else along with the Jews will be led to the chambers?

8. Thought about that, but doubt it.
Immigrants would be more likely than either Muslims or even liberals, IMO. Though, I could see Arabs being a target.

16. Turkish Gastarbeiter
When Germany's economy was riding high lots of Turkish 'guestworkers' were invited to the country to help with labor shortages. When the economy went sour they became a target for the redneck elements in Germany.

9. What cowards!
Mercer needs to add a new category to the factors they use to judge "desirability".

Vienna is best city to live and work, says survey.

...The survey studied factors including health services, political stability, traffic congestion, crime, media censorship, pollution, mail services, and even the variety and quality of restaurants and theatre. It does not factor in the cost of living....

11. The cities are, invariably, more liberal than smaller towns and rural areas.
Which, in turn, makes them better places to live - for everyone. Even those who, like the terrorists in the OP, don't contribute to a better quality of life for their neighbors.

13. Arrests in Austria camp attacks
Police in Austria have arrested five teenagers after commemorations at a former concentration camp were disrupted ...

Regional police chief Alois Lissl said none of the boys were previously known to police, nor had links been established so far between them and far-right organisations.

But he said their actions were "in clear violation of the law" banning neo-Nazi activities.

The group, aged between 14 and 17, have now been released under court surveillance, he said.

31. You have to wonder where they learned such hate...
Was it taught to them by their parents?

Is it the result of learning to feel guilty about the Holocaust?

Or is it the same sort of rage that afflicts gang members here in the U.S.?

14. Austrian teens held in attack on survivors
... Austrian Interior Minister Maria Fekter described the case as a "very serious" example of rising right-wing tendencies. Alois Lissl, chief of the Upper Austrian security directorate, said the teenagers professed to be unaware that if convicted as youths, they could spend up to five years in prison for breaching the law that bans the Nazi party and any activities aimed at reviving it ...

26. From your article:
Calling the incident one of the worst in postwar Austria, authorities said the incident also illustrated the growing right-wing extremism among Austrian youth. The teens involved apparently had no previous record.

I can't imagine that they are learning this hateful mentality from anyone other than the adults in their lives. This sort of hatred must be more widespread than one might think.

27. It is a combination of internet hate sites and alienated youth
It was harsh economic conditions, plus social alienation, that set the stage for the rise of the nazis and fascists in the 1920s.

John Belushi's immortal words notwithstanding, the fact is that there has been a rise of violence against Jews across the world.

Austria was Hitler's homeland. It is disturbing to see the brown shirts on the march again.

Well if they love hitler so fucking much, lets do this.

Put them in a locked room with a US soldier, a British soldier, a Russian soldier, a French soldier, a Canadian soldier. Then let those soldiers invoke the memories and spirits of their grandfathers to show them what they think of nazis.

Then....

Drag them to another locked room and toss them in with a bunch of Israeli soldiers and Mossad commandoes who are another having a bad fucking day.

Then we'll ask what they think of National Socialism.
