Dems: CIA briefers may have broken law

Democrats on the House intelligence committee said Thursday that CIA officers broke the law in 2002 if they told Nancy Pelosi then that they had not yet engaged in waterboarding.

"If they make a false report, absolutely it's illegal," said Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. "If they fail to make a report when they're obligated to that is also illegal — a violation of the National Security Act."

Said CIA Spokesman George Little: “It is not the policy of the CIA to mislead the United States Congress.”

Schiff said that the "question of recourse has come up actually a number of times — not just in this context." But he said it's "very difficult because for one thing you can't publicly disclose the information and to actually bring perjury charges or bring an action under the National Security Act without making it public is probably not possible."

4. Find a stepladder, and toss it on top of the pile.
If nothing has come of anything yet,
then nothing will come of this.

11. Not at all IMO... They all should be held accountable.... The CIA people...
are at fault as well as the Bush misAdmin. in this one and both should be held accountable. President Obama needs to once again instruct his chosen AG to do his job and follow the rule of law with no exceptions... Whomever broke the law needs to be held accountable...

13. President Obama won't do what he should once again.
Me wonders if someone around his bubble can tell him he is losing support each day.

Or maybe he knows it and he doesn't care anymore.

20. Just Maybe...
... Prez O is way ahead of all of us. If you examine all of his moves on this so far, everything is leading to the Justice Dept. and Holder having to take this on, have hearings and get the facts out... torture is against the law. Meanwhile, he ( sort of ) stays above the political fray. At least I hope this is how he is playing this.

18. psst, Adam, everything they do is illegal,
and has been for the 62 years they've plagued the world, on OUR dime, with a complete lack of oversight from Congress. Maybe you guys ought to look into it sometime? Like you were elected to? Instead of firehosing our tax revenues into the pockets of psychopathic criminals?!?!?

21. If Pelosi told the truth that she was lied to, then CIA briefers committed a felony
If Pelosi lied about when she found out about torture, then she ought to resign as Speaker.

Time for a special prosecutor, Mister President.

Find me one person that does NOT believe that

CIA is just another gangster organization with government approval

USA is just a haven for killing machines - yup - like their own Military.

(sigh)
