Full appeals court declines to hear Siegelman case
Source: AP

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has denied the requests of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy for the full 12-judge court to review arguments to overturn their convictions in a government corruption case.

A three-judge panel from the 11th Circuit in March upheld five of the seven bribery and corruption charges against Siegelman and all six charges against Scrushy.

Attorneys for Siegelman and Scrushy had asked the full court to review the appeal. The court's refusal was posted on its Web site Friday.

5. Why are you in shock
The 11th Circuit bench is packed with Ford, Reagan, and Bush I appointees -- about 80 percent. I think there's about two Clinton appointees.

14. Don Siegelman has not given up.

And neither have his activist supporters.

Please read and sign his latest petition.

Send the Bush Appointees Packing!

The Bush holdovers in the Department of Justice have asked that I be sentenced to an additional 20 years in prison. The Bush appointed U.S. Attorney, whose husband is Karl Rove’s closest friend in Alabama, joined with the Chief of the Public Integrity Section of D.O.J., also a Bush holdover, in asking for the longer sentence.

7. Umm...Check mate with the backhand to Don's queen
and the score is now 40-Love as the pawns are wiped off the board.

It's a strike out. Three up and three down.

10. If Siegelman is still free,
he should run. If I were in his position, I would. He will get no help from Obama. He is essentially a political prisoner now or will be upon his re-incarceration.

13. damn Montgomery is corrupt
What happened to Jill Simpson? She's a lawyer that came forward last year. She said the Siegelman case was a 5 year effort to ruin him. She worked for the republican party there and was told by Rove to try and catch him cheating on his wife. She said she did spy on him for months but never saw anything. She came forward on 60 minutes to clear her conscience. Didn't clear Don though. Outrageous! Sounds like Iraq. Invade now..make chit up later. Here's a form you can fill out on his behalf. Why aren't democrats defending him??

16. It's the fucking 11th Circuit what did we expect?
They are here in Atlanta and after the 4th or 5th (whichever one is in Texas) is the most or next most conservative and Rethuglican crew around. I don't think there is a single judge on the 11th circuit that hasn't wiped their ass with the Constitution.

Soon the South will be the place where anyone but the marginalized Republican party don't need to run any longer. Except for how that affects those of us living here it may be a good thing. We can focus our money and energy on the rest of the country.
