U.S. swine flu cases hit all 50 states
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, June 1 (Reuters) - Cases of the new H1N1 flu virus have now been found in all 50 U.S. states and tests have confirmed the virus in more than 10,000 people across the nation, U.S. officials said on Monday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said the confirmed tests represent about one in 20 of the actual number of infections, which would bring the total number of U.S. cases to around 200,000.

Seventeen deaths in the United States have been definitively linked to the swine flu virus, the CDC said.

1. Probably just the regular flu.. These are fear mongers, to say the least.
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 12:55 PM by earcandle
It is almost stated like a celebration of sorts.
What a bunch of asshats we have in the CDC.

I read a book recently called "Blood".
The cure for cancer lies in the fever.
The cure for anything lies in the fever.
wash your countertops with vinegar, and add some to your
waterbottle (glass one)
Hover your nose in the steam of your teapot.
Keep your hands clean and out of your mouth.
keep a hankerchief to cover your nose on a bus should someone
sneeze or cough.
take a teaspoon of honey.
eat whole foods.

in my not so humble opinion.

2. No its not. They have genetic tests that pin it down pretty accurately
BTW, as a BIOLOGIST let me say that what you just posted is total bullshit.
As for what you said about the highly knowledgeable scientists at the CDC...I suggest you look in the mirror.

3. It is quite American to question the medical industry and their antics to cause an pandemic to
reduce population. Are you an American?
Do you know how this flu was incubated and released?

4. I'm a scientist and an American and I understand
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 01:09 PM by TZ
basic virology and how H1N1 A probably EVOLVED--I've also been in around labs where vaccines are produced. I know more about influenza than you will ever learn in a lifetime. Obviously your knowledge of medical science and biology is quite limited "cancer is cured by a fever" is the dumbest think I've read for awhile. Take your anti-science conspiracy nuttery elsewhere.
On edit: since this came from another country (Mexico) and is being treated with the help of the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION your attitude that this is an American problem is more than a little off base as well.

6. "probably" evolved?
The subject line is about the United States.

And your willingness to be a name caller demonstrates your
unwillingness to have a civilized conversation about
differences of opinion and if you really were a scientist, not
a gofer for an industry, you might use better logic in
demonstrating your claim.

WHO? Are they really credible? Given the crap that has been
coming from China into America? And what about our own
FDA? No inspections of anything using lack of funds as a
reason not to hire good scientists to protect our health?

I find it incredible that this bleep about pandemics have been
trying to take off since SARS.

We have more people killed in the wars, or auto accidents,
than in these "epidemics".

Are you afraid?

7. Careful; this is a sense-free zone and you're upsetting the locals
The contempt this site has for anyone with a basic understanding of biology or medicine is ... well, not as astonishing to me as it should be, which bothers me in and of itself.

"Cancer is cured by a fever" has got to be the "best" woowoo BS I've heard all day though.

11. I assume not; I've seen far more ridiculous
My favorite claim was a couple years back when someone seriously and sincerely argued that literally every single medical professional on the planet was engaged in a conspiracy to suppress the fact that there's no such thing as mental illness.

14. Nah, you're perfectly healthy and They seek to destroy your wellbeing for, uh, its own sake!
Mental illness deniers disgust me even by the standards of quacks. >:P

(They're also depressingly common; I almost flunked my undergrad history thesis on attitudes towards mental illness when one of the profs grading it turned out to be a denier. Argh.)

15. It is an old book, written with the stories of all of the scientists who have worked on cures
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 03:11 PM by earcandle
and includes their funders, such as Genetech, This is a book
written about scientists since the beginning of cancer.

Don't be a blockhead, The older literature is much more
honest. This book was written in the 80's. I will see if
I can find the Library of Congress number on the book and send
it.

I am not so stupid. And I did take biology and chemistry and
got A's.

Furthermore, studies of the body are not rocket science.

Look at Dr. Schussler's Twelve Tissue Remedies if you want to
comprehend the body's physiochemical make-up.
Also, all it needs is nutritious food and action to cause
synapses to occur and to generate new cell life.

And the French are currently using the "fever cure"
for cancer so get your heads out of your asses and do some
research, please.

23. A lot of cancer patients get fevers, very high fevers, especially at night
Edited on Tue Jun-02-09 06:26 AM by eilen
and it does not kill their tumors and cure their cancer. It weakens them and causes dehydration. They are either caused by the cancer or a super infection from bacteria, virus or fungus.

I am no expert at biology or cancer. I took care of cancer patients for eight years and was a certified oncology nurse. I have no professional or otherwise ties to the pharmacological industry or the cancer research industry except in the cases when I had to care for a patient who was on a study protocol in which I had to follow the protocol (I did not design it).

I have a friend who is treating her breast cancer entirely with alternate means. I hope to hell it doesn't kill her. I try and keep an open mind and be her friend and support her. If anyone could do it, she can. But like I said, I hope to hell it doesn't kill her. If it does, I will consider those claims to be an outright fraud but I will know that she lived according to her own wishes, in accordance to her values which is what counts in the end.

edited to add: I know that there are no guarantees and that even if my friend followed the medical standards of care for invasive ductal carcinoma, she might likely still die from it = albeit more uncomfortably with a decreased quality of life -- just later rather than sooner. This is what keeps my mind open on this matter. There is likely more than one way to skin a cat and cure cancer as well.
