General Sanchez: We Asked For Help On Interrogations, But "It Didn't Come"
Source: TPM

General Ricardo Sanchez, the former top commander of coalition forces in Iraq, has added a bit more detail to his claim last night that his soldiers were "abandoned on the battlefield" by civilian leaders in the Bush administration.

Speaking this afternoon to CNN's Rick Sanchez (no relation), General Sanchez repeated the charge that he and his soldiers were abandoned on the battlefield on the issue of harsh interrogations. General Sanchez explained that this occurred "because of a lack of policy guidance, a lack of structure, a lack of training." He added: "And even when commanders were asking for this help, it didn't come."

Earlier in the interview, General Sanchez referred to "dereliction of duty," though when pressed by CNN's Sanchez on who he was talking about, he declined to get specific.

5. He is definitely listening to them.
Pretty much all his decisions regarding Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanomo, and funding have been based on what the generals tell him.

They said that a gradual 16-month withdrawal from Iraq was best, he did that.

They said about 20,000 or so more troops in Afghanistan was needed, he did that.

6. "abandoned"? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??!
"General Sanchez repeated the charge that he and his soldiers were abandoned on the battlefield on the issue of harsh interrogations"

Huh?

Lack of guidance and trainning? Hmmm... how about "torture is wrong and agasint hte Geneva conventions, hmmm'kay?"

General, did you lack "policy and guidance" on the proper way to wipe your ass, too?

Obvious he had plenty of guidance on how to cover his ass, because he is in full blown "CYA" mode right now...

I don't know what General Sanchez's agenda is but he is not INNOCENT ... he has blood on his hands too.

11. Lack of policy guidance?
So it's just coincidence that the same torture techniques were used everywhere? And none of the CIA or senior military intelligence who were in charge of interrogations realized what they were doing might just be illegal?

Yeah right. Pull the other one.
