Conservative Group Launches New Website to Counter Online Left
WASHINGTON, July 28 /U.S. Newswire/

Citizen Outreach, a limited government advocacy organization, launched its new website today, saying its objective is to be a mainstream alternative to MoveOn.org, the leftwing grassroots activist organization which sprung up during Bill Clinton's impeachment. The new website can be accessed at http://www.citizenoutreach.com.

"MoveOn.org has a big, five-year head start on us and they are very well organized," notes Citizen Outreach President and CEO Chuck Muth. "But they're attracting the kooks and the flakes; the socialists and the anarchists; the blame-America-firsters and knee-jerk peaceniks. They huff and they puff and they blow around a lot of hot air, but there's no there there. These guys are nothing but the next generation of bleeding- heart McGovern liberals."

Muth also discounted MoveOn's claims of effective political action. "They lost in their effort to stop the impeachment and they lost their effort to stop the U.S. from removing Saddam Hussein," he said. "On their two signature issues, they're zero-for-two. Not a very impressive record." ---

So, then, why are they being copycats?

4. Hmmmmm, does it appear to anyone else that they are scared of us?
Renewed Clinton bashing and referring to his statements about Iraq during 1998. Counter-websites to ours. Defense of Shrub over the "16 words" as if his pResidencey depends on it (it does).

We are over 132,000,000 strong as Democrats and Independents in this country. Do you think that they are worried?

What are you referring to when you call Clinton a "crook"? And on what planet do Bill Clinton and Dubya "have a lot in common"? You do not make any sense.

71. You could not be more wrong.
Welcome, geomon, but get your facts straight. I don't see how a reasonable person could claim Clinton was only in it for the corporations and PACS, and didn't care about the little guy. Save your ammo for a real target.

Moving from Budget Deficits to Historic Surpluses: Economic strategy of fiscal discipline combined with investing in the American people moved the economy from a record deficit -- $290 billion in 1992 -- to the largest dollar surplus on record -- $167 billion in 2000. Clinton was on track to eliminate the Nation's publicly held debt by 2013. Then you-know-who came along.

21.6 Million New Jobs: 21.6 million new jobs -- the most created by any Administration and more new jobs than were created from 1981-1992. The economy added an average of 248,000 jobs per month, the highest of any President on record.

Low Unemployment: Fell to 3.9%, the lowest in more than three decades. Unemployment rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans were both at historic lows, while the unemployment rate for women was the lowest since 1953. Unemployment remained below 5% for 34 months in a row.

Strong Economic Growth: Averaged 3.9% per year since Clinton took office, after growing just 1.7% per year from 1988-1992. In February 2000, the United States entered the 107th consecutive month of economic expansion -- the longest economic expansion in history.

Strong Private-Sector Growth: Increased 4.4% annually since 1993. Between 1993 and 2000, 19.7 million new jobs were created in the private sector -- the highest percentage since Truman was President and presiding over post-World War II demobilization.

Lower Government Spending: At 18.7%, Federal Government spending as a share of the Gross Domestic Product was at its lowest level since 1974.

Low Inflation: Underlying core rate at 1.9% in 1999 -- the lowest rate since 1965. In 1999-2000 the GDP price index rose only 1.3% -- the lowest rate of increase since 1963.

Real Hourly Wages Up: Grew 6.8% under the Clinton Administration. In 1999-2000, average hourly earnings increased 3.7%, faster than the rate of inflation. The US had 5 consecutive years of real wage growth, the longest consecutive increase since the 1960s.

Higher Median Family Income: Increased by $5,046 -- rising from $41,691 in 1993 to $46,737 in 1998.

Lowest Federal Tax Rates in a Generation: A four-person family with the median income of $54,900 paid the lowest share of their income in income and payroll taxes since 1966.

Reduced Welfare Rolls: Welfare rolls were down by 7.2 million (or 51%), after increasing by 22% from 1981-1992. This was the largest welfare caseload decline in history, and the lowest number of people on welfare since 1969.

Declining Child Poverty: Under Clinton, the child poverty rate declined from 22.7% to 18.9% -- the biggest 5-year drop in nearly 30 years (1965-1970). For African American children poverty was the lowest on record; for Hispanic children it was the lowest since 1980.

Highest Homeownership Rate: In 1999, the homeownership rate was 66.8% -- the highest ever recorded. Minority homeownership rates were also the highest ever recorded.

More Auto Industry Jobs: 161,000 new auto jobs were added -- the fastest annual rate of auto job growth (2.6%) since the Johnson Administration.

Growing Construction Industry: 2.0 million new construction jobs were added -- the fastest annual rate of growth (5.2%) in 50 years.

98. The problem with your "facts"
Is that they are not attributed to specifc policies.

The economic behavior of people is influenced by the political climate but economic trends are above and beyond the world of politics.

I also think that it would be dishonest to not show the downsides to those economic numbers as well.

Each of the statistics that you show may be true or be factual but to attribute them to a particular administration if a big stretch.

On the matter of corporate and PAC contributions, I will not sway from the idea that these contributions do a great disservice to our rights as indaviduals as well as the very foundation of our democracy.

86. nothing to worry about
I've done a lot of right-watching on the internet over the years, and here are some of my observations:

They're philistines who are less sensitive to language and therefore they don't write very well. This makes them less persuasive and less able to motivate each other very well. The days of Buckley Jr. snob types are long gone. They pride themselves on their hatred of culture and education.

Related to this is the fact that they can't design a website for shit. Honestly - I have not found one nice conservative web site or forum. They're hideous, which makes them less attractive to potential visitors / navigators. These are not creative people.

Finally, they just make terrible activists. They simply don't need to work as hard, so they don't work as hard.

The outright fascists and extremists that you find online work a lot harder.

AWOL Dick Costs Dems Head Start Vote

"A Republican bill giving states more control over the Head Start preschool program passed the House by one vote yesterday after two Democrats failed to participate, including Rep. Richard A. Gephardt who was campaigning in South Carolina. . . . Mr. Gephardt has missed 356 roll call votes since January, according to a running tally maintained by the Republican National Committee's Research Department."

personal attacks instead of intelligently debating the issues. There are a few Republicans that don't fit this description.
For them it is always "Blame Clinton First.

Tony Blair may have invaded Iraq, but I consider that to be the fault of Britain as a whole, because we didn't stop him.

IMO, I live in a democracy and a (relatively) free society - I'm therefore responsible for the actions of my nation, at least to a large extent.

This is absolutely the sloppiest, poorly researched site I've ever seen. They get off to a great start by quoting a Maxim article on Uday Hussein. I don't know about you, but when I think of magazines to quote on foreign affairs, I think Maxim. Then they list this supposed quote by Uday Hussein "This time I think the Americans are serious. Bush is not like Clinton. I think this is the end." Well, it seems like they just pulled that one out of their ass. I googled the quote and it's nowhere on the net. Bravo, if the rest of the site's content is this good, I can sleep well at night.

Charles Muth
October 9, 2001
Charles Muth is National Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus

Now that we have a President who doesn't just feel our pain but is inflicting some of our own on our enemies, it's time for the rest of the nation to get serious, as well. We can start with a national change of attitude: from understandable grief to controlled anger and from victim to victor.

That means maybe its time to replace all our pretty ribbons with "Don't Tread On Me" patches. Or shelving "I'm Proud to Be an American" and dusting off "From the Halls of Montezuma."

But if we're REALLY serious about putting an end to the terrorist threat, we need to take some concrete steps to show we're not just fooling around this time, such as:

* Unshackle Israel. For crying out loud, when it comes to terrorism, these guys play hardball, not tiddly-winks. It's time we stopped telling them to turn the other cheek. Who let the dogs out?!!

* Repeal the executive order banning the assassination of bad guys. Lifting the ban doesn't mean unleashing CIA death squads all over the world. But symbolism IS important. And symbolically, repealing this outdated executive order would have the same chilling effect as dumping a dead horse' s head in bin Laden's cot in the middle of the night.

* "Re-masculinize" the U.S. military. Tell the feminists to take a hike. Literally. If they can hack it, fine. But if they can't cut the mustard and meet the toughest of military performance standards . . . adios. The old saying is, "Don't send a boy to do a man's job." Ditto girls.

* Develop and deploy a national missile defense shield. It doesn't matter that the terrorists DIDN'T use missiles. The fact is, they COULD have. And the death toll and damage would have been FAR worse.

* Cancel the abandonment of the Navy bombing range on the island of Vieques. Our country's preparedness and national defense MUST take priority over sucking-up to gain favor from a political voting bloc.

* Arm pilots. Many are ex-military and trained to use weapons anyway. Flight attendants, too. And if we're REALLY serious, allow all qualified passengers - at the very least cops, military personnel and other law enforcement officers - to pack heat, as well (they can be given airplane-safe bullets upon check-in). Not knowing if the nun in Row 7-C has a Colt .45 or a Bible under her habit will give would-be terrorists something else to think about.

* Pass national conceal-carry legislation. It's no accident that most of our recent horrific mass murders have occurred in gun-free zones: churches, schools and airplanes.

* Repeal the ban on assault weapons. I recall former presidential candidate Elizabeth Dole questioning why anyone would need an AK-47. Well, who wants to confront an AK-47-toting maniac picking off kids in a playground, or senior citizens in a shopping mall, with a pea-shooter?

Ah, but that's a ridiculous scenario, Chuckster, the gun "safety" enthusiasts would say. Why, the odds of something like that happening in the U.S. are about as high as a band of terrorists hijacking four commercial airliners and flying them into the Pentagon and World Trade Center towers. Exactly.

* Publicly ridicule the dumbass ideas and policies of the left which helped contribute to the environment which allowed the 911 attacks in the first place. I checked, by the way, and there's NO constitutional right not to be made fun of. Nor is there a prohibition against calling a spade a spade. So we're on solid ground here.

Particular scorn needs to be heaped on Rep. Barbara Lee (the ONLY vote in Congress AGAINST the war of terrorism following 911), Jane Fonda and other self-righteous, lame-brain "peaceniks."

* Cut off any and all federal funds to the People's Republic of Berkeley, California . . . the breeding ground for anti-war crackpots and other misfits . . . and a city which actually banned fire trucks from flying the American flag lest it insult and rile up the protestors.

* Tell radical environmentalists to stick it in their ear or other appropriate orifice. Once and for all, this country needs to wean itself from Middle East oil. Start by immediately opening up ANWR for exploration. Then begin building new nuclear power plants like there's no tomorrow because . . . well, there isn't.

* Start killing off or phasing out all non-constitutional government programs such as midnight basketball, AmeriCorps and the National Endowment for the Arts. Every dime spent on liberal, feel-good programs is a dime that won't go toward eradicating the scurvy dogs who made no distinction between military and civilian targets on 911.

* Allow - no, ENCOURAGE - appropriate profiling. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, there's a darn good chance it's a duck. Sorry, but until little old ladies in blue hair and pearls start blowing up Pizza Huts with car bombs, they shouldn't be subjected to the same scrutiny as Omar the exchange student from Iran who just signed up for flying lessons.

* And finally, scrap all this self-esteem crap in our government schools and replace it with serious instruction on the nation's founding documents and revolutionary history. Too many Americans no longer appreciate the meaning of freedom and liberty. It's time to get serious about those concepts again, as well.

64. Ha! Ha! Ha!
< Unshackle Israel. For crying out loud, when it comes to terrorism, these guys play hardball, not tiddly-winks. It's time we stopped telling them to turn the other cheek. Who let the dogs out?!! ?

Umm….we haven’t been asking them to turn the other cheek. In fact it was only recently that the Bush Administration developed any policy on Israel whatsoever and stopped flip flopping and issuing contradictory statements on the Mid-East peace process. And furthermore it still seems not to have a coherent policy.

< "Re-masculinize" the U.S. military. Tell the feminists to take a hike. Literally. If they can hack it, fine. But if they can't cut the mustard and meet the toughest of military performance standards . . . adios. The old saying is, "Don't send a boy to do a man's job." Ditto girls>

Oh, yes, go for it Chuck. The Republican Party is the model of compassionate conservatism and equality and the provision above certainly proves its commitment to those principles. And it is wonderful that women are so committed to joining the army and in serving in armed combat with dignity and valor –it’s a pity your chickenhawk superiors didn’t feel the same way about their duty to the nation during the 1960s and 1970s. Weren’t they able to “cut the mustard and meet the toughest of military performance standards”. Speaking of which, do you have a record of military service Chuck? If not, why not?

.

* Publicly ridicule the dumbass ideas and policies of the left which helped contribute to the environment which allowed the 911 attacks in the first place.

Yep, the damn old Left. I mean of course of was the Left and the Klintoon Administration that provided funding and resources to terrorists in Iran, Afghanistan, Libya, Nicaragua and goodness knows where else during the 1980s. And of course it was the Left who courted Saddam Hussein and turned a blind eye to his human rights abuses during the 1980s. And of course it was the Left that blocked all the anti-terrorism measures that Clinton proposed during the 1990s that could have been effective on 9/11. And finally it was the Left that ignored all the security and terrorism warnings throughout the nine months of 9/11. Oh, what was that? The Left wasn’t in power during the 1980s and throughout the nine months preceding up to 9/11 and it was the Republicans who blocked Clinton’s anti-terrorism legislation? Oh well, never mind. Don’t let fact stand in the way of a good distortion of the truth. After all your superiors did it with the WMD in Iraq so you can do it again here, right Chuck?

I checked, by the way, and there's NO constitutional right not to be made fun of. Nor is there a prohibition against calling a spade a spade. So we're on solid ground here.

So why is your friend in the White House threatening to take legal action against sites making fun of Lynne Cheney? I thought you said that there was NO constitutional right not to be made fun of. And that there was no “prohibition against calling a spade a spade”. Or is that yet another example of the Right’s selective democracy?

< Allow - no, ENCOURAGE - appropriate profiling. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, there's a darn good chance it's a duck. Sorry, but until little old ladies in blue hair and pearls start blowing up Pizza Huts with car bombs, they shouldn't be subjected to the same scrutiny as Omar the exchange student from Iran who just signed up for flying lessons>

I agree with the above statement. I’m sure Chucka Muth will not object to being subjected to profiling to eliminate the possibility that he is a white right wing nutcase such as Timothy McVeigh or the guys who savagely tortured and dragged James Byrd to his death. This could be very agreeable

<And finally, scrap all this self-esteem crap in our government schools and replace it with serious instruction on the nation's founding documents and revolutionary history>

Couldn’t agree more. Perhaps we should send all the wingnuts back to school so they actually learn value and respect for the US Constitution so that they develop an appreciation for the principles of freedom, liberty and democracy and do not keep trying to erode it.

<Too many Americans no longer appreciate the meaning of freedom and liberty. It's time to get serious about those concepts again, as well.>

Well, if your Administration ceased placing limits and restrictions on freedom and liberty, I’m sure Americans would develop a greater understanding and appreciation of what they meant. Perhaps this complaint should be directed to your superiors Chuck

<Muth also discounted MoveOn's claims of effective political action. "They lost in their effort to stop the impeachment and they lost their effort to stop the U.S. from removing Saddam Hussein,">

Let's deal with the Saddam issue first. Considering that the chickenhawks in the Administration wouldn't even listen to key advisers in the Pentagon or the wider military -never mind the opinions of diplomats and even members of the first Bush Administration- it's probably not surprising that MoveOn failed in it's bid to stop the second Gulf War. And now the chickenhawks are facing the consequences

And, as for the impeachment, was Clinton actually REMOVED from office? No? Well I wouldn't exactly call that a failure then.

72. I "love" his statements on guns

I think his idea is to arm the entire populace and let them shoot it out. If that many people on planes had guns, I wouldn't fly. There is an increasing number of road rage cases and vigilante justice (i.e. people getting beating following traffic crashes). People beaten with fists are more likely to recover than shot with bullets. And if that's not enough, I think we should arm them with more powerful guns.

Somehow I can imagine him having fantasies about using an AK-47 to gun down those awful liberals at a peace vigil.

contrary to the name as i cruised through the website i have yet found anything that is remotely about empowering the public. it seems to me nothing more than an attempt at masking a political agenda than empowering people. Not that du doesnt do any of these things. But du does more with the forums by brining people of different or similar political idealogies together for activism. i see nothing of this sort in this website. perhaps i did not look far enough.
