Colbert to broadcast 4 shows from Baghdad
AP

By JAKE COYLE, AP Entertainment Writer Jake Coyle, Ap Entertainment Writer – 31 mins ago

NEW YORK – Stephen Colbert will broadcast four shows next week from Baghdad, where he says he'll be "Bob Hoping" it for the troops.

Colbert arrived at the former Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory on Friday. For weeks, he's promoted the trip on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," but because the military urged caution, he has only trumpeted a vague trip to "the Persian Gulf."

The series of shows, each to be taped in front of an audience of about 450 troops, have been dubbed "Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando." It's the first time anyone has broadcast from Iraq for a USO tour.

1. That's great!
Four shows from Iraq. That will be something for Comedy Central to pull that off.

5. I love the fact he's doing it for the USO
The troops will love it! I know my brother would have been first in line for that had he done an Afghanistan USO tour. :)

7. K&R. Kathy Griffin, Al Franken, now Stephen Colbert.....do any of the RW Chickenhawk "entertainers"
ever go visit the troops??

I can't remember Pigboy or CryBaby Beck or the Manatee ever going to see our troops in the Persian Gulf.

I wonder why?

Isnt' CryBaby doing a "comedy tour" this summer. Why isn't he doing a few shows in Iraq or Afghanistan?

8. Sarah Palin fucked up the purposefully VAGUE "Persian Gulf" thing
With her Twitter entry a few weeks ago:

Getting ready to tape shout-out for our awesome US troops serving overseas! Will be on ‘Colbert Report’ next month, broadcast from Iraq…

WAY to go, loose mooselips....there was a snippit on some website I visited at the time (forget which one) that talked about the twitter entry and how she took it upon herself to say exactly where the show would be from..Iraq--all while the show and those connected ( i.e military) with the trip were trying NOT to publically say at the time exactly where it would be recorded.
Thank goodness she didn't get into the WH: "OOoooooooh...I'm sorry, I didn't see the huge bold print "classified" word on that folder's front cover..golly gosh, and here I went and held a press conference about it's contents".
