Authorities: Gunman (von Brunn) to be charged with murder

WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia officials say an 88-year-old white supremacist will be charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial and Museum.

District Police Chief Cathy Lanier revealed the charge to be brought against the man authorities earlier identified as James von Brunn (vahn BRUHN').

Federal authorities says they are convinced that von Brunn was responsible for the slaying of security guard Stephen T. Johns. Joseph Persichini, assistant director of the District FBI field office, said authorities at this point have no information indicating that von Brunn had any assistants or accomplices.

10. The internet savvy thing was shot down yesterday.

I had posted an interesting Gawker blurb that mentioned it. The part about how an old due was so "savvy" wasn't really even the point, but people pointed out that a lot of elderly people are quite skilled with the technology.

He probably stewed for years, committed the would-be kidnapping, got locked up, released, and then stewed some more and finally boiled over. Maybe we'll find out he has cancer and wanted to die with his boots on before he got too sick to do it.

"Too sick to do it" just sounds weird, huh?

8. This was a political hate crime and that makes it

different than a "normal" (crime of passion). It's different because if this monster ever got out of prison (as he did once already) he is likely to do the same type of crime again and again because of his hatred. I'm against the death penalty, he should be locked in solitary for the rest of this life.
