2. Shades of US 2000. Too bad Al Gore didn't have any Big Media support
Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 02:37 PM by Doctor_J
Edit: Gore won the election, but the state-run media here declared Stupid the winner and the media won a victory over the people.

3. Are we talking an outright win or a lead?
As I understand it, they have a run-off system. To declare an ultimate winner, the candidate would have to get 50%+1 vote in this round. Did that happen??

7. Right now, with 20% of the vote in, Ahmadinejad has won 69% of the vote.

8. As we all know from our own elections, this doesn't mean much.
But I sure don't have to like it.

10. As I understand it, that might be good.
From what I've gathered, Moussavi's support is largely from more urban youths. I most certainly might have that wrong, however.

4. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be the ultimate decider ( I bet)
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has had his own private opinion poll conducted and the results suggest that Mir Hussein Moussavi could be on the verge of a broad victory

12. At the same time
when they asked who he was voting for, his ideal candidate sounded like Ahamedenijad. Hopefully in the next few years, Iranians will find a way to sack the mullahs completely. Bastards.

15. 35% counted, president leads 69% - 29%
Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 05:13 PM by David__77
I could see it closing considerable, but the incumbent would have to get less than 40% of the remaining votes to not win outright in the first round. Seems pretty unlikely.

16. Now it's certain, the president was re-elected.
He'd have to get less than a third of the remaining half of the votes outstanding. That's not going to happen.
