Kennedy paid $2M for autobiography
Source: Politico

Sen. Ted Kennedy, the veteran Massachusetts Democrat who is battling brain cancer, was paid nearly $2 million last year for an author’s advance on a new autobiography, according to financial disclosure reports made public Friday.

But Kennedy, like many Americans and affluent lawmakers, saw a steep decline in his personal wealth during 2008, according to his latest financial disclosures released Friday.

Family trust funds that Kennedy had reported as worth at least $45 million in 2007 now have a minimum value of $14 million. Kennedy earned at least $1.5 million in income from those trusts last year.

Kennedy's overall net worth, at a minimum, declined from nearly $48 million to $15.7 million in the last year, the documents show. But since disclosure reports only include a range of asset and liability value, his true worth is likely to be far higher.

2. Good for him. He has led an interesting and full life, and put in a lifetime
of public service. He will earn every dime of that in telling his story. More power to him.

3. It'll make far more than that - a bargain

Good for him - it's not like he's 32 years old and trying to cash out on an early lottery win - he's been in for the long haul and that could be considered a pittance for a lifetime's effort.

5. The shame is that Sarah Palin, who is lint dust compared to Ted Kennedy, got more for hers.
Anywhere from $4 million to $11 million has been mentioned for Sarah Palin.
