DPA Islamabad - A powerful blast tore through Pakistan's north-western town of Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday, killing up to eight people and injuring at least 20 more, officials said.
The explosion took place in a crowded market of the city which has seen several acts of violence in recent days.
'Eight people have been killed and at least 20 others wounded,' top civil administrator Mohsin Shah told the Express News television channel.
Shah said a planted device was used in the attack.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, but local police chief Mohammad Iqbal suspected it could have been a response to the ongoing military action against the Taliban militants in Pakistan's north-west.
