Honduras Orders Diplomats to Be Expelled
Interim Government Forces Venezuelan Diplomats To Leave as International Community Threatens More Sanctions

AP) Honduras' interim government Tuesday ordered Venezuelan diplomats to leave the country as the international community threatened new sanctions on the Central American nation if negotiations fail to resolve the crisis.

Venezuelan Embassy charge d'affairs Ariel Vargas said he received a letter from the Honduran Foreign Ministry ordering his diplomats to leave in 72 hours.

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has been the most vociferous critic of what he calls the "gorilla" government that overthrew his ally, Manuel Zelaya, on June 28.

The interim government accused Venezuela of meddling in Honduran affairs and of threatening to use its armed forces against Honduras, according to a copy of the letter obtained by The Associated Press.

Chavez has demanded Washington do more, including withdrawing U.S. troops from its Honduran base, to force Zelaya's return to power

4. Yes, the Honduran oligarchy has unleashed the military gorillas against the people

In Latin America, military golpistas have long been tagged as gorillas.

6. You're vey welcome and btw, the AP report is woefully incomplete

The Honduran golpista government has ordered the ouster in 72 hours of embassy staffs of not only Venezuela but also Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, San Vicente and the Granadines, Antigua and Barbados and Ecuador.

Most (if not all) recalled their ambassadors after the June 28 coup, but there are lower-level staffers still in the embassies.

The golpistas today told the diplomatic missions in a letter sent to each of them that the Micheletti government could not guarantee the (physical) integrity and security of the delegations after the 72-hour period expires.

It's like declaring open season on those diplomatic staffs.

13. Thanks for adding the 9 other countries they're also ordering out of Honduras.
We are ALWAYS given such a distorted picture any time Venezuela's name is involved.

The whole picture changes once it's clear it's not only Venezuela being told to leave, but that would interfere with the agenda the corporate media's projecting every single day.

3. ...and they are rightly refusing to acknowledge these "orders."
Let the coup authorities violate international law by forcibly deporting them.

9. Zelaya is president, and the Rodas is foreign minister.
The "orders" were issued from an illegal usurping authority. Some will disagree. I agree with the UN, OAS, EU, US, and every country on earth on this one.

"coalition government" is referring to when/if Zelaya returns under terms of a compromise

14. I just read "reconciliation government " in a different article
I think this means that congress and the courts have to vote to dissolve themselves, allow some international body take their place, so Zelaya doesn't return to the same hostile government.
