Geithner Says No Tilt to Goldman
Source: The Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Friday that government officials acted appropriately in their dealings with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. during the heat of the financial crisis last year.

"We have been forced to do just extraordinary things and, frankly, offensive things to help save the economy," Mr. Geithner said. "I am completely confident that none of those decisions…had anything to do with the specific interest of any individual firm, much less Goldman Sachs."

...................

In response to questions from Digg users about whether government officials who rescued Wall Street were corrupt, Mr. Geithner said that while he understands the public anger toward the bailouts, policy makers acted honorably in their efforts to save the financial system. He said the government needs policy makers who understand financial markets and are able to help craft efforts that protect taxpayers.

"These are deeply honorable men, great public statesmen willing to come serve their country in very challenging times and they did exceptionally good things for the country," Mr. Geithner said.

That pretty well clears it up for me.

I do think some of us owe Tim "More Taxes on the Middle Class Are Fine By Me" Geithner a big apology for thinking that he's corrupt. And while we're at it, perhaps some of us should shoot Honest Hank Paulson an email asking forgiveness for some of the mean things we've thought about him.

5. I know! I slept poorly last night wondering the same thing!
Can't we strike some sort of medal like "Hero of the US" for these patriots?

Or design a special tombstone to mark their contributions forever? (But only if they agree to use it this year!)

3. Orwell's Dictionary: "Acted appropriately"

Usual definitions:

1) "really beat the shit of that scumbag,"

ex: "The officers at the scene acted appropriately," said the police chief, responding to questions about police officers severely beating a homeless man who was threatening one of them with a piece of cardboard.

2) "carried out our city's ethnic cleansing policy,"

ex: "The officers acted appropriately" when the they pat-searched and ran the identities of every Black male in the household above the age of 12 prior to allowing EMS to enter and treat a 9-year-old boy who had a seizure. BTW, the boy was DOA. (True story).

Geithner's usage is of this term is a novel one. Its meaning is still being deciphered, but its somewhere between "What? It's just a like beating the shit out of homeless scumbag, and that's not even worth your attention," and "too bad, you homeless scumbag, Goldman owns the government now, and we'll be shoveling money to them because they know how to get rich and you don't. Happy trickle down!"

7. In other words...
"These are deep (-pocketed)ly honorable (rich) men, great public (supporters of more permanent tax cuts for the rich) statesmen (CEO's) willing to come serve their country (controlled by the Corps) in very challenging (propaganda's working) times and they did exceptionally good ($$$$$$) things for the country ('s wealthy)," Mr. Geithner said.

9. "I am not a crook !"
Famous last words.
I am curious WHY Geithner even brought this up.
Conscience bothering him ?...No, sociopaths have no conscious.

Wouldn't Geithner and his Goldman cronies in the Obama administration be better off NOT stirring this vile vat of shit?

....unless another round of looting is in the works?

11. It frankly amazes me that these Obama appointments are always seperated from the President

Obama surrounds himself with these criminals, DU seems to unanimously hate them, yet if you post anything tying Obama to the people he appoints, the posts are unrecommended.

As if, Obama had nothing to do with these men and their positions in his administration.

It is bizarre.
