Remarks About Hunting Tags For President Obama Good For Campaign, Says Idaho Politician
Source: Associated Press

REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Rex Rammell says his remarks about buying hunting tags for President Barack Obama have been a boon to his campaign.

The former elk rancher also blames Democrats and the media for overblowing his comment and being too defensive.

Rammell tells the Rexburg Standard Journal that the problem with Democrats is they can't take a joke.

But neither can some of Idaho's top Republicans.

Last week, Idaho's Republican governor and congressional leaders condemned Rammell for his response at a political rally when someone shouted a question about "Obama tags" during a discussion about Idaho's wolf hunt. Rammell responded: "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those."

1. So advocating assassination is good for conservative campaigns.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of how our country is going straight down the drain.

11. This isn't new...
Ann Coulter made similar and worse threats, against Clinton and others but was never called on the mat.

I remember one case in Washington where a Democrat who made a joke about Bush's religious pretensions and talked about a "Burning Bush" was given a 2 year prison sentence.

Perhaps the Secret Service should begin strip searches and body cavity searches for all Repblican congess members that make such threats. Of course, he would probably like it.

14. Because its not a joke.
Threatening the assassination of our president is not a joke, especially given all of our assassinated presidents.

17. Oh, now I get it!
Who needs Jon Stewart's wit and satire to make jokes, when there's the always-light-hearted topic of presidential assassination?? But it still makes me wonder why nobody ever tuned in to Fox's short-lived "Half Hour News Hour."

18. Democrats "too defensive", "can't take a joke"
Right, what is wrong with liberals that they don't think it's just fine and actually downright amusing to joke about getting a hunting tag to shoot a president? We must be humor impaired. Probably it is even funnier to do it when it is a president who gets so many threats, who is having hate and fear of him fueled by lies and smears, who so many have been convinced is dangerous, a real threat to the country
What is wrong with our humor? I am so humor impaired I don't think it would be appropriate or funny said about george bush. I am so not with it that I don't think it is about Democrats or republicans, I think it is about decency
