Rudolph trial delayed at least until the beginning of 2004
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- The trial of accused bomber Eric Robert Rudolph has been delayed at least until the beginning of 2004, according to an order from the trial judge.

Rudolph will stand trial for the bombing the New Woman, All Women Health Care Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, in January 1998. Birmingham police Officer Robert Sanderson was killed by the bomb, while a nurse was critically injured.

Earlier this month Rudolph pleaded not guilty to the bombing charge, which carries a maximum sentence of the death penalty if he is convicted.

Attorney General John Ashcroft has not made a decision on whether to seek the death penalty.

Hey Asscroft you right-wing POS. This guy killed at least 2 people and injured hundreds in a politically motivated bombing campaign. You are already trying Zacharias Moussaoui for the death penalty for training to be part of 9-11, but never actually taking part in the plot or killing anyone.

Is that just because you think terrorism is OK for Rudolph but not for Zacharias Moussaoui.

1. When Rudolph was captured
I felt that he would never face trial for bombing the abortion clinic as Ashcroft would prefer the Olympic bombing. Initially the Media was calling Rudolph the "Olympic Bomber". Apparently the former U.S. attorney had made a promise to Birmingham authorities that Rudolph would be tried there first and the Justice Dept. was compeled to honor this. (I also believe the best evidence against him is in Birmingham.)
I still have my doubts about there ever being a trial in B'ham as long as Ashcroft is Attorney General. I do not believe Rudolph will face the death penalty because in some way Ashcroft agrees with his beliefs and philosophy, if not his actions.

3. Rudolph is a terrorist
He's lucky he's getting legal representation considering
what other "enemy combatants" are receiving under the
administration...

Let's keep Rudolph's name in public view....

5. why isn't Rudolph getting the
Moussaui and Padilla treatment---we *DO* remember Jose Padilla, don't we? He's been sitting in the Brig at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in Charleston, SC for quite some time. He was the 'dirty bomber'

See, Moussaui and Padilla are both "suspected terrorists" who weren't caught in the act doing anything, but rather for "acting' like terrorists.

For Padilla, he has repeatedly been denied access to an attorney, and he's not even been given a trial yet, although I think he's been locked up since October 2001.

Padilla was "suspected" of building a 'dirty bomb' although no such bomb or materials were found and certainly none were detonated.

However, Eric Rudolph not only blew things up repeatedly, he also killed people. There is no question as to whether or not he was planning on things, he actually did them. repeatedly.

Yet Eric Rudolph has not been charged with terrorism. Eric Rudolph isn't in solitary confinement in a military brig. Eric Ruldoph has appeared in court, a civil privelege that Jose Padilla cannot claim of his own.

Eric Rudolph is also unlike Jose Padilla because Eric Rudolph has not only been appointed an attorney, but has been allowed to speak to his attorney.

Eric Rudolph isn't being held as an Enemy Combatant. He's not being threatened with Military Tribunals. He's not being threatened with spending the rest of his life behind bars and never HAVING to be charged with a crime.

Eric Rudlph is a Terrorist.

Jose Padilla is a Suspected Terrorist

yet they are both receiving the exact OPPOSITE treatment they each deserve.
