U.S. Supplies Harpoon to Egypt and Turkey ( & Taiwan)
~SNIP~
WASHINGTON -- The United States has decided to supply Harpoon missiles to Egypt and Turkey.

The Defense Department has awarded Boeing subsidiary McDonnell Douglas a $69.5 million contract for the procurement of 44 Harpoon all-up-round missiles for a range of U.S. allies. Egypt will receive 10 of the Harpoons with the rest allocated to Taiwan.

The Pentagon award also contains the supply of various missile systems for Turkey. A Pentagon announcement did not elaborate.

Officials said the production of the Harpoon would take place in Britain, Canada and the United States. They said the contract is expected to be completed in December 2005.

3. That would be a bad, BAD move . . .
.
.
.

China has 5 times the population of the USA

many MANY nukes

a nasty temper, specially with others "stickin' their nose in" . .

and just who's side does the US Admin think that NK and Russia will be on ?

it's a no-brainer that any such move could well be the end of the USA as a power in the world at all,

heck, even the USA's closest neighbors,

us Canuks and Mexico ain't too fond of the USA's foreign policy right now . .

The USA is very VERY close to bein' the school bully that just "picked on the wrong guy" . .

Just My Dumm Canuk Observations . .

5. Not dumb at all. Very salient points.
And, once again, I apologize for the fact that America has failed to remove these traitors from power thus far.

7. The US can not allow China to "retake" Taiwan by force.
Any US President who would permit that would be instantly impeached. We have a duty to safeguard the integrity of Taiwan and to make certain that any "re-unification" (as if they were ever "unified" to begin with) occurs only on terms wholly acceptable to the Taiwanese.

44 conventional Harpoons are pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
