NEW YORK (Reuters) - Halliburton
Co. (HAL.N: Quote, Profile, Research)
, the main U.S. contractor in Iraq, on
Thursday accused a Democratic
congressman of not telling the full story
about billing issues for work done there.
On Wednesday, California Rep. Henry
Waxman said in a memorandum that Pentagon auditors had found major problems with how
Halliburton drew up cost estimates for billions of dollars of work.
The Houston company, once run by Vice President Dick Cheney, said in a statement that the
memo contained only "selective portions of audit reports."
It said the "true and complete story" could not be made public because releasing those audit
reports could violate established federal policy.
