Poll finds pessimism about U.S. direction - Gallup

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-03-15-mood-poll_x.htm

WASHINGTON — Americans are increasingly gloomy about the state of the economy and the direction of the country, a Gallup Poll has found. That state of mind is a warning flag for President Bush as his re-election campaign begins in earnest. (Related item: Poll results)

In the poll, 60% said they were dissatisfied with "the way things are going in the United States at this time." Except for a survey two weeks before the invasion of Iraq a year ago, that is the most negative reading since 1996.

1. If you sow good seed, good crops follow; If one plants seeds of weeds
then that is the harvest, weeds.

We get shit for letting a shitty Prez in the White House. We are that dumb.

2. we didn't vote or "let" * in
The electorate, the Gore people and the Dem party were not evil-savvy enough to combat *'s tactics.

This time around it's different - I think the weed whackers are at the ready!

3. Saw this on CNN this morning....
The more it gets "mainstream" press, the more people who will jump on the bandwagon and say, "Yeah, I don't like the way the country is going either." As much as I hate to admit it, that's the way the average American comes to their conclusions and if it works for us, then so be it.

7. So, the economy isn't bad, the media just makes us believe it is?
Prices are not going through the roof, the media just makes us believe it is? Bush&Co is not manipulating the BLS numbers saying the cost of living is only 2% when we know that our utility bills, food bills and gas pump bills are more than l0% bigger than they were last year?

No, this time the media has gotten it right. They are not listening to Bush&Co's BS and actually taking a look a the real world around them.

5. I'm sure that they will Re-Poll next week and show that most....
Americans love DAS *!

:eyes:

Remember, whenever the Repubs don't like a poll, they re-poll until they get the desired result.

6. Wingnut talk show hosts are desperately telling us the economy is great
and that there is no jobless problem. Yet people know that personally what the talk shows say is bull. Glen Beck and Laura Ingrahm are daily tell folks that all is rosy.

9. But the sad part is......
That many wingnuts will sit at home jobless, and with no "food on thier family" will still listen to them and rush out to help spread the word that all is fine on the western front and that Bush is saving the country.

8. According to the USAToday...
* job-approval rating was a respectable 50%, however, which has been a sort of dividing line for presidents seeking re-election. Since 1948, no president who maintained an average job-approval rating of 50% or better in his re-election year has lost a bid for a second term. No president with a rating below 50% has won.
