Blix: Straw 'gave incorrect answers' to Iraq inquiry
Source: BBC

Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw gave some incorrect answers to the UK's Iraq war inquiry, former UN weapons inspector Hans Blix has said.

Mr Blix told the BBC he was "puzzled" by some of the evidence that Mr Straw gave to the panel.

He said that Mr Straw had been incorrect to suggest, in 2002, that UN weapons inspectors were not being allowed access to certain sites.

Mr Straw is due to be interviewed by the inquiry again later on Monday.

1. They never give up on the fabrications, do they?
This bullshit is gospel for the right wingers. They just keep repeating the fabrications that the Bush junta put forth and they do it with impunity. This sets another very bad example for the criminal element.

2. BBC: Hans Blix answers Tony Blair's '2010 question' (Video)
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 06:57 AM by Turborama
Former chief UN weapons inspector Hans Blix has answered Tony Blair's '2010 question', which the former prime minister raised at the Iraq inquiry.

Speaking on the HARDtalk programme, Blix explained why Blair is wrong to assume Iraq would have entered an arms race with Iran if the 2003 invasion had not gone ahead.

Oh! Wrong answer. You lose you little War Criminal. We have something for you. Relax, it's not a prison sentence. It's a case of Turtle Wax. Thank You for playing Iraq Inquiry.

9. Actually he was told to get the freak out or be bombed into oblivion.
Next the republicans will be complaining that Obama didn't open our humanitarian mission in Haiti with a 3 day bombing campaign just like our humanitarian mission in Iraq.

5. Wasn't Straw just using one of those
neo-con talking points? It was almost a mantra here among the Bush administration.

6. The hearings would probably expose
Straw to war crimes violations. With visions of prison, scaffolds and nooses dancing in his head he could lie like Jon Lovitz SNL character Tommy Flanagan. Yeah, that's the ticket: Saddam wouldn't let inspectors in.

10. Will this inquiry ever produce anything?
Like a trial?
It's like the politest of the polite canapée-eating, champagne-drinking crowd you ever saw. Everybody knew the intel was bogus anyway.
Politicians going thru the motions, the swan dance for the media to process and make no more of it, please.
