McCain: Time To 'Pull The Trigger' With Iran
Source: Associated Press

(04-14) 08:02 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Senator John McCain says the United States has been backing away from a brewing fight with Iran, while that country moves ever closer to having nuclear weapons.

--clip

Speaking figuratively, the Arizona Republican says the U.S. keeps pointing a loaded gun at Iran but failing to "pull the trigger."

And yet the press continues to seek his opinions on practically everything.

47. The idea is to use...
neutron bombs: nuclear weapons that will kill all the operating staff by ionizing irradiation. No need for bunker buster bombs and city bombings, just kills all the staff and folks within a few miles only.
With say 10 sites, 1000 staff per site and 1000 guards/site, they will put the nuc activity in Iran to zero with only about 20,000 deaths, almost all pro-regime and leave the bulk of Iran wondering what happened as neutron bombs don't explode, no mushroom clouds, no sound. Surgical!

39. That, and being born son of an admiral
Born to privilege. A natural-born frat party animal barely getting passed through the Naval Academy. And daddy's rank got him a pass when he wrecked the first few airplanes.

And, yes, ditching the first wife after she got disfigured in an auto wreck, and after hooking up with the heiress babe. That'd be none of our business, of course, except when he preaches family values.

They both think with their c**ks instead of with their brains.

Folks, Iranian/Persian posturing is nothing new. They've been swaggering their c**ks around their neighborhood ever since the days when they used to worship the sun and fire as Zoroastrians/Mazdaists.

32. If Obama does call a strike on Iran, watch the right and Fox news denounce it...
And call it "wag the dog tactics" as well as claim that Obama should have tried talking to Ahmadinejad.

Just like when Obama called for the Somali pirates to be shot so that we could free that merchant captain, remember?

They were all over the place defending those poor Somali pirates.

37. The RW didn't defend the pirates. They complained the Obama waited so long.
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 02:48 PM by GreenStormCloud
They wanted the pirates shot sooner.

Other than that, I agree with you that if Obama attacks Iran, the RW will gripe. Likely they will gripe that the strike wasn't strong enough.

With the new technology that has been perfected in the past few years, we could obliterate the Iranian military in one day with conventional strikes. No nukes needed. I am referring to the JDAM precision GPS targeting coupled with the SDB (Small Diameter Bomb)or it can use a smart seeker head that can find tanks and vehicles. The bomb can glide up to 60 miles from it release point which keeps the launching aircraft outside of most ground based air defense envelopes. (Of course the first wave of attacks would take out the air defenses.) The SDB weighs only 285 lbs so one plane can carry lots of them. A B-2 can carry up to 216 of them on one mission, each programmed to a different target that the plane only has to pass within 60 miles distance to attack the target.

Due to the small size of each bomb and the extreme accuracy of the bomb, collateral damage is greatly reduced.

There is a reason why Obama took the recent action that he did regarding nukes. Basically, we don't really need nukes so much.

So if Obama should strike Iran the RW will complain that the strike was too weak.

50. April 1914
The Germans have the Schlieffen Plan, a desire to annex more of France, and to become the dominant European power.

France has Plan 17 and a desire to reclaim territory lost to Prussia in 1870.

Austro-Hungary is a fading empire trying to reclaim lost glory.

Russia wants to erase the military disaster of 1905 and prove that they are still a great power.

The common thread, they were all prepared for conflict and fully expected it to occur.
