McMahon confirms helping NYT whack Blumenthal
Source: The Hill

Linda McMahon confirmed last night what was widely suspected: Her campaign assisted the New York Times in producing the article that has upended Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's Senate camapign.

Speaking to Fox News's Sean Hannity, McMahon said her campaign "contributed some research" to the piece.

“(T)hey had initiated the story," she said. "We contributed some research to the story for the New York Times but they initiated, they did the research, they did all the verification for it."

She denied a "conspiracy," repeating that "some of our research, I think, helped them later on after they broke the story."

The Times has already taken heat for failing to acknowledge the main quote in their piece came from a speech in which Blumenthal later correctly described his service. (Though yesterday another quote surfaced in which Blumenthal said he "wore the uniform in Vietnam.")

1. Funny thing is that I think it will hurt her....
more than it hurts Blumental. It is actually giving a boost to her opponent Rob Simmons. She's a sleaze, but then again, she's wrestling.

2. McMahon is one sleazy right-wing nutcase, but I'm glad she got the word out about
Blumenthal.

As a Vietnam veteran I find it disgusting that just to win votes someone would represent himself as a vet who served in Vietnam, when he did not serve in Vietnam. That is a slam on the very veterans he was trying to honor. Typical slimy politician: say whatever you think the audience wants to hear, make yourself into whatever you think you need to be.

Screw him. We need a Democrat who doesn't have to lie to look good.

5. Odd isn't
that if Blumenthal had come up with something negative on McMahon and gave it to the NY Times and they ran it, people would be cheering both Blumenthal and the NY Times.

It's interesting how many people will condemn something that a person with a (R) behind their name does, but put a (D) behind their name and all of a sudden that same act or tactic is perfectly acceptable.

8. Wow... what scum he is
for lying about serving in Vietnam. As a Vietnam Vet, I will never forgive him just like I will never forgive Jane Fonda. Fuck them both.

6. What? A politican did oppositition research on an opponent and then fed the dirt
Edited on Fri May-21-10 03:39 PM by wmbrew0206
to a media organization?

(in Capt. Lewis Renault voice) "I'm shocked, shocked to find out that there is gambling going on in here!" (Your winnings, sir) "Thank you very much!"

This happens in every campaign. Blumenthal is probably doing the same thing on McMahon and Simmons. It is his fault that he handed them "scandal" by lying about his service.

7. As far as I'm concerned
he should resign. He's nothing but a lying POS, and those vets that stood behind him during his "apology" are nothing but POS's also. Saying you served in Vietnam when you didn't is a slap at those of us that did.
Fuck you Blumenthal you lying prick. Do the honorable thing and resign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
