Gary Coleman Dead
Source: Hollyscoop / MSNBC Breaking

We're sad to report that Diff'rent Strokes star Gary Coleman has passed away at 42 years old.

Coleman was pronounced dead after he suffered from a brain hemorrhage. He suffered an injury in his home in Utah on Wednesday, and his condition significantly worsened and he was placed on life support.

When he was admitted, Utah Valley Regional Medical Center John Alcantar representative said, "We are saddened to announce that since mid-afternoon, Mountain Time, on May 27, 2010, Mr. Coleman has been unconscious and on life support."

"At this critical moment, we can only ask for your thoughts and prayers for Gary to make a speedy and full recovery," he added.

24. Conrad Bain is 87 now
Meaning he was in his 50's or so back then. I don't know if that is "really old" to you or not but if it is have you got some surprises ahead.

8. RIP - Sad Life
back in the early 90's I worked for a radio station that hired Gary for name recognition only and he knew it - He rarely would come to the station to do his show, he was sleeping with one of the lady jocks and there was talk of marriage on her part. Then he faded away as he ran out of money ...

His health was always in bad shape.

May he now rest in peace.

PROVO, Utah – Gary Coleman, the child star of the smash 1970s TV sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" whose later career was marred by medical and legal problems, has died after suffering an intercranial hemorrhage. He was 42.

<snip>

oleman, with his sparkling eyes and perfect comic timing, became a star after "Diff'rent Strokes" debuted in 1978. He played the younger brother in a pair of African-American siblings adopted by a wealthy white man.

His popularity faded when the show ended after six seasons on NBC and two on ABC.

He suffered continuing ill health from the kidney disease that stunted his growth and had a host of legal problems in recent years.

RIP Arnold.

17. Second DS star dead.
11 years ago, Dana Plato (who played Kimberly Drummond) died of drug overdose. This is sad. I was listening to "Science Friday" on NPR when Coleman's death came up on the hourly bulletin just 15 minutes ago. Not surprising given I read somewhere that Coleman was in the hospital a few days ago.

33. He was a very tortured soul
I was watching him on "Divorce Court" a few weeks ago (yes, yes I know) and you could just see all that pain and anger and bitterness and vulnerability and sadness and goodness knows whatever else oozing out of him. Poor guy

27. R.I.P.
What a roller coaster of a life that he had. He filled a void in the sit com world at the time and despite all his travails, he will be missed. It has been so tragic for the entire child cast of that show.

Whatcha talkin' about Willis?

Rest in peace. O8)

29.  Now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum ...

R.I.P. Gary.

Now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum
What might be right for you, may not be right for some
A man is born, he's a man of means
Then along come two, they got nothin' but their jeans
But they got Diff'rent Strokes
It takes Diff'rent Strokes
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world

Everybody's got a special kinda story
Everybody finds a way to shine
It don't matter that you got not a lot- so what?
They'll have theirs, you'll have yours and I'll have mine
And together we'll be fine,
Cause it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world, yes it does
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world!

36. Another part of my childhoood is gone. :( RIP Mr. Coleman.
I am so sad that this weekend had to start off with such terrible news. Even though his life had been full of turmoil, I certainly hope that he has found peace in the afterlife. And no matter what he did, Mr. Coleman touched a lot of lives when he was in show business. He also starred in a lot of shows and movies that produced fond memories for a lot of people.
