The Times-Picayune The Louisiana tourism industry will soon launch national media campaigns designed to mitigate damage to the industry in the wake of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Lt. Gov. Scott Angelle said this week that he plans to use a $15 million BP tourism grant awarded to the state to support three efforts. The Department of Culture Recreation and Tourism made a decision on how to allocate the money after reviewing plans for recovery submitted by industry stakeholders and conducting research on the spill's impact on tourism.
