'I'd do it again' former President Bush tells Grand Rapids crowd about waterboarding terrorists
Source: Grand Rapids Press

Former President George W. Bush was by turns affable, relaxed -- and deadly serious in his local appearance Wednesday.

"Yeah, we water-boarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed," Bush said of the terrorist who master-minded the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington. He said that event shaped his presidency and convinced him the nation was in a war against terror.

"I'd do it again to save lives."

In a speech and question-and-answer session before the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, Bush defended his decision to go to war in 2003 with Iraq.

"Getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do and the world is a better place without him," Bush said.

But he also made it clear he would leave political potshots at President Barack Obama to others, saying: "You are not going to see me in the public square criticizing the president."

9. Doubtful. Lets be honest, just about no president is really ever punished
in our country for whatever they do.
Sure there are the rare ones like Clinton who got punished for lying about a blowjob but the ones who do the big stuff like order truly major criminal acts get off free as a bird usually, its just the way it is sadly.

7. Did you realize that in 1920 the Mississippi Supreme Court
reversed the murder conviction of a young African-American male, charged with killing a white man because his confession was secured by *the water cure* which consisted in pouring water into his nose, confessions thus obtained were not free and voluntary.

. . . he hands of appellant were tied behind him, he was laid upon the floor upon his back, and, while some of the men stood upon his feet, Gilbert, a very heavy man, stood with one foot entirely upon appellant's breast, and the other foot entirely upon his neck. While in that position what is described as the “water cure” was administered to him in an effort to extort a confession as to where the money was hidden which was supposed to have been taken from the dead man. The “water cure” appears to have consisted of pouring water from a dipper into the nose of appellant, so as to strangle him, thus causing pain and horror, for the purpose of forcing a confession. Under these barbarous circumstances the appellant readily confessed. White v. State, 129 Miss. 182, 91 So. 903, 904 (Miss. 1920)

And again in 1926 the Mississippi Supreme Court reversed a conviction because the confessions were not freely and voluntarily given because the accused was subjected to the water cure. Fisher v. State, 145 Miss. 116, 110 So. 361 (Miss. 1926).

17. 'The terrorist who masterminded 9/11'?
Wait ... I could swear that people are innocent until proven guilty in this country?

If memory serves, don't newspapers pretty much ALWAYS adhere to the principle of using words like 'alleged' and 'accused' when discussing SUSPECTS in criminal cases?

Apparently, though, when the former Pretzeldunce is admitting to the criminal act of ordering someone to be tortured, it's appropriate to refer to that person as though it's already been proven that they ARE, in fact, a convicted mass-murderer.

Clearly, after all these years, Dulles' Mighty Wurlitzer plays on ...

20. at least someone of that party can open a can of act right
he needs to talk to his vp about following suit. They both need to shut the fuck up and go sit down.

There is no defense about attacking and invading a country that had nothing to do with al qaeda or 9/11 for their oil.

So he'd start another unnecessary war in his quest for oil and exploitation of natural resourses for his own enrichment and send your children to go die and maime themselves in the process then turn their backs on them when they return from battle, is what he's saying. Thank you for that clarification you ass.

I feel sorry for him, he seems to believe what he were saying, after Sep 11 we were sad and angry innocent people were killed. He is stupid to think that his wars stopped terrorists when it was internal talks and guilt who did it. If wars did something it is more terrorists not less but he is stupid to think otherwise.
