Cell phone video of border shooting surfaces

(CNN) -- A video obtained by CNN raises questions about a U.S. Border Patrol agent's claim that he fatally shot a 14-year-old boy in Ciudad Juarez while he was surrounded by rock-throwing suspected illegal immigrants.

In the distance, a U.S. border patrol officer on his bicycle can be seen making his way toward the area. Seconds later, the officer can be seen getting off his bicycle and approaching two of the four suspected Mexican nationals who had just crossed through an opening in the fence. One of the suspects is detained by the officer, but never handcuffed, and instead dragged a short distance. This happened on the U.S. side of the border.

Moments later, the officer points, what appears to be his firearm in the direction of a second suspect, standing about 60 feet away from the officer -- on the Mexican side of the border. The video shows the suspect running away.

Seconds later, two gunshots can be heard on the video. A third gunshot is heard in a different sequence of the tape. After the shooting, another suspect is seen running in the upper left hand side of screen away from the incident.

...Israel and people crossing the border are not Palestinians. And this shooting rock throwing kids shit, or spending the public's money to legally defend the shooters, is something the U.S. needs to distance itself from in a big way.

Let him get suspended and have to prove his own legal case, just like the BART shooter.

If the government wants to throw money at defending this crime, the phrase "Latinos vote too, ya know!" should come to mind.

6. This is not an isolated incident.

INS agents kill Latino kids (both Mexican nationals and US citizens) more often than the mainstream media wants you to know. I remember, about 15 years ago, a Border Patrol car chasing a pickup truck full of American kids of Mexican descent, until the truck overturned and all the kids were killed. This was in Temecula, about 100 miles on this side of the border.

This is plain war, declared by the INS against anyone with brown skin or a vaguely Spanish accent. Their supporters are criminal, in their support of race-based murder.

It seems that in this case excessive force was used. And on a border as big and anymore as dangerous with the drug running it's an unfortunate possibility that incidents like this will happen. They need to punish the officer and increase the training or at the very least raise the standards of being a patrol agent. If he felt that threatened he shouldn't have gone in alone.

Your post is just hyperbole and doesn't really help. Somehow I'm guessing the 20,000 plus Mexicans already killed this year in Mexico due to drug-related crime might be a bigger deal than the 12 (according to Mexican authorities) so far this year. Though I have no doubt Mexican authorities will use this incident for political gain, just as many US authorities here will as well. Especially border authorities.

it does however sway all over and not stay long enough to see the event or know who it's swaying too. And what cell phone captures video in black and white? Lously footage.

I'm gathering from the article that police were called because a group of mexicans were crossing the boarder and some did cross the border through a hole in the fence and then the officer rode up on a bicycle, grabbed one guy and dragged him while pointing a gun at another who was running, and then shot the guy he grabbed off camera, while others ran away.

Should the Mexicans have been crossing the boarder illegally, NO! The article says at least two had crawled through a hole in the border fence and were seen on the video doing this. Should they be shot for it? No! Should the border patrol have lied, NO! But I can't tell what the heck is going on in the video - a woman is described as yelling "they are throwing rocks". I want to believe they were not surrounding the boarder agent while throwing rocks. Either way, all needed to be arrested, not shot. But if you do throw rocks at a cop with a gun, well I expect to even be shot in Seattle, where I'm from.

16. One more note - I see the border agent surrounded in the video, I just don't know if he's surrounded

by Mexicans or other border agents. I suppose it's Mexicans if he's the only border agent there. He's presumably on the US side of the fence and from the description, a woman is yelling "they're throwing rocks". He also has had the guy he's holding down, down long enough to talk to him which could validate the border guards explanation that he warned the guy first. I notice he didn't just shoot the guy, he held him down for a while - while the guys friends ran around and presumably threw rocks.
