Oil spill: BP to decide about dividend cut on Monday

BP's directors are to meet on Monday to decide whether to suspend its dividend.

BBC business editor Robert Peston expects that it will formally agree some kind of reduction in the dividend payment has already been taken.

The meeting comes in response to pressure from the US government, which wants BP to use the money to pay for the Gulf of Mexico clean-up instead.

Meanwhile, BP's shares closed 7.2% higher in London, fully recovering the losses suffered the previous day.

1. Cut the dividend
To this point alone the US govt estimates we have already spent $140 million dollars.

And we have just begun the cleanup, and the oil keeps gushing on.

Outstanding article highlights BP's terrible safety and environmental record. If I were an investor, I'd sue them for misrepresentation and fraud: "Beyond Petroleum" was a complete lie
