Bill Clinton: President Obama not getting his due

Speaking in Cape Town, South Africa as part of the Fortune/Time/CNN Global Forum, Clinton said said that public perception of the president has lagged behind what he has done to benefit the country.
"He's done a better job than he's given credit for," Clinton said. "I feel very strongly about this." The former president, who, like Obama, saw his polling numbers dip dramatically during his second year in office, said that Obama is not fully "responsible" for how he is perceived, adding that a dip in approval is "not avoidable" in an economic downturn.

"Until people feel good about their own lives, they're not going to feel good about their president," Clinton said. "And there's nothing you can do about that."

"He is a brilliant, articulate and, I think, an exceedingly empathetic person," the former president said of Obama.

12. One DLC member scratching another's back, which is fine, I have no problem
with that. I just don't like many of the things Bill did, nor do I think Obama has it right on a lot of things. But my comment pertains to how they both follow similar conservative policies.

31. Well, Obama's economic team does look a lot like Clinton's.
Obama even has a modern day Brooksley Born in the person of Elizabeth Warren.

Clinton didn't listen to Ms. Born. We're waiting to see if Obama listens to Prof. Warren.

14. Come on, give the guy a break.
It was a classy thing to say considering all that went down in the primaries. He didn't have to praise Obama, but he did.

8. Seriously? Are you going there? It's about to be racist when a white person brings up
the fact that another white person is being racist by saying a black person is articulate.

Edited on Mon Jun-28-10 01:06 PM by xultar
and what isn't.

Bill using the word articulate in this instance is not racist.

I'm saying DON'T GO THERE because it is just as racist to assume that using the term articulate is racist.

If you don't understand that. I CANNOT HELP YOU.

That doesn't make sense.

Are you saying that a white person can't say another white person is using racist-tinged words without being a racists him or herself?

...........I wasn't happy with Clinton's policies and (so far) I'm not pleased with Obama's. Bill is just out there politicking for the Dems in his own style, nothing wrong with it.

10. ************It isn't always racist when a white person says a black person is articulate************
Edited on Mon Jun-28-10 12:31 PM by xultar
By bringing it up you might be headed down a racist path of your own.

So give that shit a rest.

When my dad tells his friends that I'm articulate is he being fucking racist?

I'm about to ask all ya'll to let black people decided for ourselves what is racist. I don't' think we need white people telling us what is racist and what isn't. We're smart enough on our fucking own to determine that. No help needed there folks.

19. Obama's Latino Backlash
If Obama is so damn articulate, then why does group after group on the left continue to say he lied, misled, or broke promises?

"Hispanic voters are peeved about the president’s inaction on immigration reform. Just ask Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, who tells Bryan Curtis, “Obama broke a promise. It’s that simple.”

"“When he had a hold on Congress, when he had 60 votes in the Senate, he could have done it,” Ramos says. “And he didn’t. He chose other issues. And that’s why Latinos are so frustrated.”"

24. Advocating for your issue is not unreasonable.
Unreasonable is expecting anything to be done while you don't advocate for it.

25. "When he had 60 votes in the Senate....." We never really had 60 votes
That's the problem, the public perceives that we had 60 but doesn't grasp the outrageous difficulty in keeping people like Lie-berman, Nelson, Landrieu, etc. in line with the rest of the party. That and the asinine fact that it takes 60 votes to accomplish anything in the first place.

Thinking like this is exactly why the Greedy Obstroctionist Party is so busy obstructing.
