Source: BBC News

At least 23 people, including one American, have been killed in twin blast in the Ugandan capital Kampala.

It is not known what caused the blasts, which police said went off at a rugby club and at a restaurant, as football fans watched the World Cup final.

"These bombs were definitely targeting World Cup crowds," Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura said.

Somali militants have in the past threatened to attack Kampala; Ugandan troops are deployed in Mogadishu.

1. THUGS and murderers all around the world.
These sick f*cks are the same people that strap bombs to themselves and walk into a crowd of innocent men, women and children. The same caliber person that blew up the Twin Towers, the Oklahoma City Bldg, etc.

Just sick f*cks! Intent on causing misery and pain. Their actions accomplish nothing but suffering to innocents. These cowards deserve the hell that is waiting for them, however!

2. My wife arrived in Kampala today
I'm a little anxioux but assuming she's ok. I can't even call her tonight and will have to settle for trying to reach her by email.

4. Sending good thoughts.
She's probably OK.

My mom was in Bali when the bombing in 2005 happened. Just a few blocks away, as it happens. It took her a little while to get back to us; all the phone/internet circuits were totally overloaded. My dad and I were freaking out until she finally managed to get through.

6. Hope you've heard from your wife by now. It's early afternoon in Uganda and, a few minutes ago,

my daughter received two messages (through Facebook, I think) saying that the Uganda orphanage (where my granddaugter and son-in-law are) is located in a safe place . . . and their church mission team is asking that we pray for all the injured and those who lost loved ones in the Kampala bombings.

8. Thank you Petrushka and Withywindle
Still haven't heard from my wife yet but I'm not worrying at this point because she's with a group of friends and some of us back home here would have heard by now if anything was wrong. Petrushka, I'm glad to hear your loved ones are safe!

3. Last month, my brother sent me a link to an "african crisis" article warning . . .
. . . there'd be trouble in Uganda beginning on the 12th of July! He was mostly concerned because
my granddaughter and son-in-law were going to Uganda as members of a church mission team helping
at an orphanage less than 150 miles from Kampala. The Uganda team have been there for a week
and they have ten more days scheduled before returning home. Needless to say, we'll be praying here.

7. Leave it to my brother to come across the "interesting" stuff. Don't know how
he finds some of the things he sends me! But, now, I'm gonna hafta do a quick google.com search for "ChronWatch", thanks to you.
:hi:

Looks interesting! Thanks for mentioning it. I'll have to send my brother the link: http://www.chronwatch-america.com/
