Iowa billboard linking Obama, Hitler removed
Source: Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa – A billboard created by an Iowa tea party group comparing President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lenin has been removed.

Kent Beatty, the general manager of the company that owns the billboard, says a North Iowa Tea Party representative called Tuesday night and asked that the sign in downtown Mason City be removed.

Beatty says his company replaced the sign Wednesday morning with a public service announcement.

The original sign showed photographs of Obama, Nazi leader Hitler and communist leader Lenin beneath the labels "Democrat Socialism," "National Socialism," and "Marxist Socialism."

1. It Served It's Purpose. It's Frightening, Horrifying Purpose
These folks are unhinged and dangerous and fomenting violence.

2. Ouch, I'm afraid that's exactly what the teabaggers (and their puppetmasters) want.

5. Interesting that Tea Party members themselves complained about the sign.
That's why it was removed, not because of community pressure. Not sure if that's a hopeful sign (Tea Partiers themselves possibly growing brains) or unhopeful (the community didn't immediately take up pitchforks and bring legal action against the Tea Partiers).

6. Mainstream repigs did it
The teabagger got a call from a high-up in the GOP and was told to take down the sign because it made the GOP look bad. Since the teabagger is a coward and is used to following orders, he did it posthaste.

13. That was my first thought as well. Orders from the top told them to take it down.

7. Well, the billboard was partially right...
It's obvious the North Iowa Tea Bagggers were trying to prey on the fearful and naive. Looks like they got more press than they bargained for.

Patriots my ass - these bottom feeders are scoundrels pure and simple.

8. Well, at least they got what they wanted - free publicity.
What a despicable lot they are. :puke:

I love how the GM had to be asked to have it removed by the *teabaggers*, rather than refusing to put it up in the first place. Apparently he'll allow anything to be posted to his billboards. I wonder if he'd allow a billboard that said 'Kent Beatty is an asshole'? Think he'd go for it? :D

14. These rightists will end up truly popularizing socialism.
If they are so against socialism, I must be for it. Not the fascist pseudo-socialism, but the anti-rightwing kind.

15. WTF did this guy agree to put up the billboard in the first place?
The TEA PARTY had to call and request it be taken down? Why would you even agree to put up such inflammatory trash, Mr. Beatty?
