June Earth's hottest ever: US monitors
Source: afp

AFP - Last month was the hottest June ever recorded on Earth, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Thursday, amid global climate warming worries.

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature data also found the January-June and April-June periods were the warmest on record, according to NOAA's National Climatic Data Center, which based its findings on measurements that go back as far as 1880.

In June, the combined average for global land and ocean temperatures was 61.1 degrees Fahrenheit (16.2 Celsius) -- 1.22 degrees Fahrenheit (0.68 Celsius) more than the 20th century average of 59.9 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5 Celsius).
...
Global ocean surface temperatures averaged 0.97 degrees (0.54 Celsius) above last century's average of 61.5 degrees Fahrenheit (16.4 Celsius) -- the fourth warmest June since records began. The Atlantic Ocean saw the most pronounced warmth, NOAA said.

5. Thanks, yeah, it can get hot in Riverside, I used to know folks in
El Cajon, just a few miles in from me when I was in San Diego, and the temp differences were amazing, we would be in the 60's and they would be in the 90's some days. Not to mention Borego Springs, and PS.

21. In San Jose, it was cooler and humid which is weird.
Usually it's so arid here, you have to put moisture into the air during the summer or you wind up with chapped skin. This year it was tropical here. Very strange. We had rain in May.

26. Last month was the hottest June recorded worldwide, figures show
Edited on Fri Jul-16-10 09:45 AM by Elmore Furth
Source: The Guardian

Last month was the hottest June ever recorded worldwide and the fourth consecutive month that the combined global land and sea temperature records have been broken, according to the US government's climate data centre.

The figures released last night by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) suggest that 2010 is now on course to be the warmest year since records began in 1880.

The trend to a warmer world is now incontrovertible. According to NOAA, June was the 304th consecutive month with a combined global land and surface temperature above the 20th-century average. The last month with below-average temperatures was February 1985. Each of the 10 warmest average global temperatures recorded since 1880 have occurred in the last 15 years with the previous warmest first half of a year in 1998.

Temperature anomalies included Spain, which experienced its coolest June temperature since 1997, and Guizhou in southern China, which had its coolest June on record. According to Beijing Climate Center, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, and Jilin experienced their warmest June since their records began in 1951.

The June land surface temperature exceeded the previous record by 0.20 degree Fahrenheit.

The extent of sea ice measured by satellites in the Arctic was at its lowest for any June since satellite records started in 1979. The Jakobshavn Isbrae glacier, one of the largest in Greenland, lost a 2.7-square mile chunk of ice between 6-7 July – one of the largest single losses to a glacier ever recorded.

Oh boy. I can hardly wait for the climate change deniers.

There was snow last winter and in some places there was a lot of snow, in the winter, doesn't that mean there is no global warming? (do I have to point out this is sarcasm).
