Glenn Beck Fires Back Over Goldline Investigation
Source: ABC News

Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck Wednesday lashed out ABC News and at critics of Goldline, the precious metals dealer that has come under increased scrutiny for aggressive sales tactics.

Beck called the recent ABC News report about Goldline "the biggest spin you've ever seen" and suggested it was part of a government conspiracy to deprive mainstream Americans of choices in how they invest their savings.

"They are going to nudge the gold industry out of business," Beck said during his syndicated radio program Wednesday morning. "They are going to regulate it and regulate it and regulate it, until you won't be able to buy gold anymore. This is what I'm telling you -- they can't have people buying gold. They need to own all the gold. They're going to nudge us. Mark my words."

"ABC has done this story on Goldline and me, and there's nothing new there," Beck said. "Absolutely nothing new there."

3. It might
If they find out this was a scam and he was part of it! I imagine he would be crying plenty if they had to go to court and testify, and even more if they put the moron in jail for a year or more!

Beck is all about the money, just like his buddies Limbaugh an Palin. They prey on the "suckers" who are dumb enough to listen to them, and have all kinds of ways to bilk the suckers from their money. I would love to see all of them in jail where they belong!

28. "If" it is a scam? Of course it's a scam, silly!
According to the commercials, cash is going to be worthless and gold is the only asset worth having. If that's true, why are the companies so eager to trade their incredibly valuable gold for soon-to-be-worthless cash?

Having accidentally rubbed my eyes after handling a Tabasco sauce bottle sticky from the hot sauce, I guarantee this works.

Riiiiight... yeah, the one precious mineral the entire world, for centuries, from the beginning of mankind's experiments with capitalism and trade, is just going to go away.

No, asshat, fuckwad that you are, it's criminals and cheats like your sponsor that needs "nudged" out of business... by a judge!

Conspiracy my ass.

4. Yep,
Gold is the new "bubble" and scaring the crazies into buying it is nothing more than a con job by Beck. Just like oil, and the housing bubble it will burst, and when it does, it's not going to be the "rich" guys crying because they lost their life savings, it will be the people that were gullible enough to believe the likes of Beck!

Goldline is in trouble because it looks like they're scamming people.

Glen Beck is setting those people up to be scammed.

13. Because they are selling it for way more than it's worth.
Gold would have to go up 100s of percentage points to get your money back. If you want to buy gold there are more legitimate ways to do so. But it's still a game and probably not for the little guys that they target. Gold is a commodity like any other and is, and will be, only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

If gold is such a great deal, why is Goldline trading it for money? Just to be nice? Inquiring minds want to know.

31. This is the scam
But Kismartin says he ended up losing almost half of the $5,000 he spent, because, he says, the Goldline salesman pressured him to buy overpriced gold coins, not the gold bullion he had seen in the commercials.

"I wanted to go bullion, I didn't want coins," he said. "I told the gentleman I don't want coins. He said I got the deal here, the special deal, I got Swiss coins. He more or less talked me into buying the coins."

When Kismartin took the coins to a local coin shop, he was told the $5,000 worth of gold coins he bought from Goldline five months earlier was worth just over $2,900, a loss of $2,100. "You know, I'm living month to month, that's a big loss."

Zoanne Martz of Sacramento says the same thing happened to her with Goldline when she was persuaded to buy $13,000 of overpriced Swiss gold coins. Each one priced at $250 dollars.

-----

Some angry customers say Goldline invokes Glenn Beck as a way to steer them to their collectable gold coins, citing his frequent warnings that only gold coins are safe from government seizure." You see, back in 1933, FDR said, 'Okay, we're going to take all your gold and gee, it's worth $8 an ounce.' But some people got smart and they said, 'Well, wait a minute. I've got antique coins, you can't melt these down.'"

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/glenn-beck-fox-hosts-golden-advertiser-goldline-investigation/story?id=11200542&page=3

People are pressured to buy coins when they really wanted to buy gold. And the coins are worth less than they paid. Also Beck and his ilk push that coins are safer cause the government may confiscate bullion.

How many of his marks " who actually received coins " have bothered to take them to a reputable

My bet is that they are just worthless, gold plated lead coins that are no better than

27. Cracks me Up...
It cracks me up to think that all these conservatives think that gold will be worth something if the sh#t really hits the fan. In the event of a large scale disaster or meltdown the most valuable things will be basic necessity items like food, shelter, and medicine.

Growing your own food takes months so in the event of a surprise disaster wont get you anywhere unless your willing to starve until your crop comes in.

One of the most basic things you can have during a disaster is some sort of energy source because the first things that usually get cut off are utilities but i doubt anyone on Faux would be willing to endorse solar panels or anything that doesnt feed the oil giants....

http://industry.bnet.com/PRIVOXY-FORCE/advertising/10007548/why-the-probe-of-glenn-beck-sponsor-goldline-might-interest-the-ftc/

"Beck has said on his radio show he is getting paid by Goldline and Goldline has called him its “paid spokesman.”
Beck continues to routinely endorse the buying of gold on shows where Goldline is a sponsor.
Beck has filmed a commercial for Goldline.
Beck has told his bosses at Fox he is not a paid spokesman for Goldline.
Fox prohibits any on-air talent from endorsing products or serving as an ad spokesman. HUH????
(And Beck apparently communicates with his bosses at Fox through his lawyers.)?
