Philly Cops Accused of Burglarizing Frankford Bar
Source: NBC

At least two Philadelphia Police officers are accused of stealing cash and drinking alcohol from a Frankford bar while it was closed...

Sources say the officers were responding to an alarm call at the nearby New Vision Auto Detailing and Repair shop when they noticed the basement door to the restaurant open.

The officers then entered the cafe and spent about 45 minutes inside, sources say.

Surveillance cameras allegedly caught police drinking from the bar inside and at least one officer taking cash from a safe, sources tell NBC Philadelphia.

Looks like more abuse of power. These kinds of incidents are all too common.

1. How fucking stupid do you have to be to not know you are probably being videotaped?
Oh yeah, they are cops. Not the the brightest bulbs.

Someone posted, a while back, results of a study showing the personality traits cops have in common with criminals. I've always believed there was fine line between cops and criminals. Stories like this tend to confirm my theory.

3. Last year, a man was arrested for bank robbery after he literally ran into a local cop
as he was leaving the bank parking lot here in Muhlenberg Township, PA...

Turned out he was a NYC police officer, and robbing banks was what he did in his spare time...

One more point for your theory.

5. Dumbasses. We had cops robbing a local grocery store back in the early 1970's.
They were finally busted by the owner with several cart loads early one morning.

Another one of our 'finest' robbed the ATM he was responsible for filling!

This was in a town of approx. 7500.

6. In my hometown, they just fixed traffic tickets and beat up motorists
And they were on the take for the video poker racket and drug dealers.

7. Really, I don't understand why all criminals don't become cops.
It would seem to be a sensible approach to their criminal career.

It's up to the authorities to weed such people out, but they don't seem to be too interested in doing so in some places.

8. That's strange. Ordinarily the Philly cops disable the surveillance cameras before they
start ransacking the place.

See the series, "Tainted Justice," that just won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on Philadelphia police methods.
