Three convicted murderers break out of Arizona prison

(CNN) -- Authorities are hunting for three convicted murderers who escaped from a Kingman, Arizona, prison on Friday night.

The Arizona Department of Corrections and the Flagstaff Police said on Saturday that the three disappeared from a medium-security facility and are considered to be armed and dangerous.

State and local authorities are searching for the men, who were discovered missing after the 9 p.m.count in prison. All three suspects were serving time on murder convictions of 15 years to life.

Early Saturday morning, Flagstaff Police said the suspects abducted two people at gunpoint and then released them at a local truck stop in the Kingman area.

For those who don't pass, Sheriff Joe will be happy to give them the max. After Judge Bolton's ruling, he couldn't resist demonstrating how vengeful and sadistic he is:

"That would have been a nice little extra twist if we could have locked them up instead of handing them over to ICE," Arpaio said Wednesday after Bolton's ruling.

14. I lived out there for several years...

I worked for a short time in the truck stop they are talking about. I worked out North of the airfield for Allied Signal's aerospace division. When worked on aircraft wheels and breaks. SW of town, there a few abandoned mines and a weird set-up of small shacks, it's an easy walk from the train station. They might get away if they know the area.

There was no prison when I was there, although they an up to date jail, serving that kind of time, they would not have been there for more than a year.

15. Private prisons have little incentive to keep inmates

There was an article in MoJo awhile back on this subject. I don't know if this prison is for profit, but if so, there is no particular loss for them over ssuch an incident.

20. CNN reports that this is a private prison, and that sure is telling.

There's a study by the BOP showing that private prisons had higher escape rates than state-run ones. And these guys should never be released for this unjustified joyride of theirs.
