Bush under fire over Sharon invitation

Thank-you Gerald Kaufman

<<A senior Jewish MP today launched an attack on US President George Bush’s decision to invite Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to the White House.

The invitation amounted to a “presidential seal of approval” for Sharon’s Likud Government, which was responsible for “indiscriminate” killings of Palestinians, said Mr Kaufman.

He called for economic sanctions against Israel to bring Likud to the negotiating table.

Speaking today at the Rusholme branch of the Labour Party in Manchester, Mr Kaufman said: “By inviting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to the White House, President George W. Bush has given his presidential seal of approval to Israel’s Likud government

8. HAHAHAHA! Good one!
It's like Israel's ambassador to Sweden telling me that the International Solidarity Movement is anti-Semitic...when a large number of ISM members are Jews or Israelis! :eyes:

Besides, anti-Semitism extends to all of Semitic origin. That includes, to the chagrin of those who use it as an attack, Arabs of Semitic origin. D'oh!

:D

3. This should be special....
A chance to see Bush as a major world figure, capable of statesman-like functions:

The White House announced on Friday that a long-mooted meeting between Bush and Sharon would take place on April 14 and cover “the war on terror and the search for Israeli-Palestinian peace”.

The session is scheduled two days after Bush is to welcome Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to his Texas ranch. A week later, on April 21, Bush will meet Jordan’s King Abdullah at the White House.

6. Consider Condoleeza's legs a national treasure?
Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon once mentioned that he finds it difficult to concentrate on what National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice says because she has "nice legs." Members of the 'if you can't convince 'em, confuse 'em' school of diplomacy might, for this reason, consider Condoleeza's legs a national treasure. I, however, would just as soon see them kept covered — as a gesture of respect both to her and to Sharon.

17. It's the Occupation, stupid!
Get out of the West Bank, Golan, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, and you might make a case about poor little bloody Israel being an innocent victim. You can't make that case for as long as there is an Occupation.

26. Have to agree with you there! Why does Israel continue to engage in it?
Why does Israel continue to ignore more UN resolutions than even Saddam Husein and still have credibility with this administration as opposed to being invaded by the US for a forced regime change?
There's a reason 'collective punishment' has been outlawed worldwide as part of the Geneva Conventions so why do they continue to engage in it?
Sharon and his ilk are indeed terrorists and I sincerely hope Israel rids herself of them for their own sake and the sake of their children. :evilfrown:

30. So why does Israel assassinate or mow down a village when shooting stops?
Professor Niva at Evergreen has charted suicide bombings since they began in 1994-he says whenever there is a ceasefire, Israel either assassinates someone or bulldozes some houses, followed by a suicide bombing. There is evidence -I read along time ago I don't have a link-that Mossad set up Hizbollah to contain terrorists in an organization they had control over and it got out of hand. Maybe even some of their agents changed sides, I am not sure (kind of like Al Quaida!). Anyway they deliberately provoke bombing to keep the base energized. They deliberately push every boundary to elicit sympathy from other countries and demonize the Palestinians. I am not anti-semitic but the policies that maintain the lack of peace are on both sides. If Israel quit farming like agribusiness they wouldn't need the water on the Palestinian land. If they found industries that didn't require so much oil, and lived more consistently with the environment in stead of trying to make the desert like New York City, they could peacefully co-exist. WHen you take land people have lived with for generations, and offer no alternative, no jobs, no place to live and work or raise kids, you create the kind of desperation that leads to terrorism. Religious lands that belong to more than one religion must be shared. period. having been displaced doesnt entitle a people to displace others.

31. Sharon is a war criminal as is Bush*.....
.....and you fool no one here!

You ever hear that two wrongs don't make a right?

I do hope President Kerry uses the precedent set in Haiti to invade Israel and depose their despotic, lawless regime due to their actually having WMD's, (nukes) their having stated that they will kill Americans on American soil, their repeated espionage against the government of the United States and their continued use of terrorism against other countries.

It seems to me that the Palestinians were there on that land long before Israel was created by the UN or did I miss something?

To me it's a case of "it all started when he hit me back!" ;-)

14. Sharon Visit Marred By Prospect Of Indictment
http://www.menewsline.com/stories/2004/march/03_29_1.html

<snip>

"Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's efforts to win U.S. support for an Israeli unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip appears jeopardized by plans for his indictment on bribery charges.

Israeli officials said Sharon could be forced to cancel his visit to the United States and even resign from office if a formal recommendation for his indictment is released over the next few weeks. On April 14, Sharon has scheduled a meeting with President George Bush in Washington.

"Once there is an indictment, it's all over," a senior Israeli official said. "The question is whether Sharon can postpone any formal recommendation until after the Bush meeting."

Israeli media outlets reported that a state prosecution team has decided to indict Sharon on bribery charges. They said the recommendation must be approved by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, who will begin his examination this week."

18. Hopefully Sharon will be indicted, and Bush is impeached
and then we can get the right person in the White House who will spend the next 4 years cleaning up the mess that was made in the last four.

I can't imagine a President Kerry being as stupid and insensitive as to invite the criminal Sharon to the White House.
