S.Korea, US launch massive joint war games
Source: AFP

SEOUL (AFP) – South Korea and the United States launched a new round of war games on Monday involving tens of thousands of troops, despite threats of retaliation from North Korea.

The 10-day computerised military exercise is one of a series being staged by by the South -- either alone or jointly with the United States -- in the aftermath of the sinking of one of its warships in March.

Pyongyang warned Sunday that its army and people would "deal a merciless counterblow" to the United States and South Korea over the war games.

The massive military drill involving some 30,000 US troops and 56,000 South Korean troops began on Monday, a spokesman for South Korea's defence ministry told AFP.

6. Yes, simply because we are unable to play the "Make more jobs at Home game"
Instead, we push this military hardware all over the world, cram up up other countries ass like we did in the Cold War, and expect the world to love us for it.

With the questionable rhetoric going on against N. Koreas lately, now would be a good time to cancel the so called "Games", save a lot of money, and get the fuck out of there.

Nah, Obama is captive of the Chickenhawk crowd. Nothing like poking at the Hornets nest expecting to get stung. It's what little kids do.

7. no reason?
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 09:44 AM by bossy22
so sinking a small frigate type ship is "no reason" i guess. Killing 46 south korean sailors must also be "no reason"

you have to respond in some form or another; you can't just turn the other cheek. If SK did, it would just embolden NK to try something more bold. Appeasment doesnt really work

3. How the heck do you "retaliate" or "deal a merciless counterblow"...
against military exercises?

Once again N.K. is :puffpiece:

They're a bunch of loons.

8. I wonder if there is some point that desperately hungry people stop
paying attention to propaganda and decide that anything, even resistance, is better than slow starvation.

9. Give it another 10 years
That point may be tested in a lot of countries, not just North Korea. Some might surprise you.
