House, Senate Democrats Retain Cash Edge
Source: Real Clear Politics

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised almost double the campaign cash that the National Republican Senatorial Committee drew in September and produced a record-breaking quarter, giving the Democrats a financial edge in the final three weeks before Election Day.

---

The DSCC raised $15.5 million last month compared to the NRSC's $8.3 million in the same time period. In the third fundraising quarter, the DSCC raised $27 million, a quarter record for the committee.

Headed into October, the DSCC had $25.6 million on hand compared to the NRSC's $19.2 million.

For the lower chamber, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is also well ahead of its counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee, in available cash. The DCCC hauled in $15.9 million last month, calling it one of their best months ever, and has $41.6 million on hand - more than double what the NRCC has in the bank.

1. Why does my Democratic Senatorial Candidate need more money......then?
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 05:02 PM by KoKo
This sounds good but it isn't what Howard Dean's 50 State Strategy gave us here in North Carolina in the last election. In fact we are being starved!

I'm wondering how much of that money is going to KEY RACES like Harry Reid/Nevada rather than getting states who went BLUE FOR OBAMA to not go RED for TEA PARTY!

2. It's always good to get more money.
Money you have cannot be used against you. You can even set up political committees to suck money out of your opponents campaign. Lots of possiblities, and you get to KEEP it afterwards.

3. I thought we were unenthusiastic?
If I wasn't suffering a loss of enthusiasm, I'd be excited.

Here in NC, the Dem ads are few and far between.

6. Elaine just got her first ad up this week
She's been hurt by the UNC football scandal, the part regarding illegal agent contact with UNC football players. As soon as that scandal broke and she said, as Secretary of State, that she was lauching an investigation into agent law-breaking, many UNC fans expressed their displeasure by saying they weren't going to vote for her. The next week's poll showed a drop of 10 points, and she hasn't recovered. As a non-UNC sports fan, I'm OK with UNC getting its comeuppance, but the unfortunate by-product has been that its hurt Elaine's candidacy.

5. I'm self-employed and make
next to nothing as I try to build my retail business. I'm in this for 13 years and maybe just now really seeing the growth that I thought would come by year 3. I'm just two years from paying off my loan and have been fortunate to not miss a bill, a loan payment, or bounce a check. By then though, there's been almost nothing left. Still, on Sunday, I'll be contributing until it hurts to help Democrats campaingn and GOTV. I'm giving to Elaine Marshall here in NC, the DNC, DSCC, DCCC, and OFA. Please give what you can to these groups, or candidates and groups of your choosing.
