Building Sign Reads ‘F*** Meg Whitman And Carly Fiorina’
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 05:04 PM by savalez
Source: CBS San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) — In an already nasty election year, outspoken San Francisco defense attorney Tony Serra has unfurled a huge banner in front of his building near busy and tourist-heavy Broadway and Kearny streets in North Beach, stating “F*** Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.”

~snip~

Whitman responded by calling it “a very personal attack.”

“What have I been called in this race. I’ve been called a liar, a Nazi and a whore. And I have run a campaign on the issues,” she told CBS 5.

lol. This is one wild election season. What's more funny is Meg's response. She said she's run a campaign on "the issues".

40. The case on point - I wish I could remember the names, was an
Ohio State student wearing a "Fuck Michigan" sweatshirt. He was cited in Michigan for violating their vulgar in public ordinance or something like that. The judge ruled that in this context, "Fuck" meant "beat" and had no real sexual context. The case was dismissed.

I think in the opinion, the judge wrote in effect that in order for the phrase "Fuck Michigan" to be obscene, it would have to mean "Having sexual intercourse with the State of Michigan."

You should have been there.
During the season, there is a great Farmers Market in our little town of Sonoma. Live music, clowns, farmers and, of course, a whole lotta wine.

Whitman had been around town all day in this big bus with HUGE billboards reading something to the effect of Bringing Jobs Soon. They had the thing parked down the block from from my house, in front of ass-hat Don Sebastiani's house, he of Sebastiani Wineries fame and a total d**khead repub. I walked on down there to see what was going on and there was Whitman, herself. I asked her what she hoped to accomplish by spending all day in a town of less than 9,000 population. She said something about 'getting in touch with the people and creating jobs' or something like that.

Later that evening, they parked that bus right in front of the Plaza (where the farmers Market is held) and got out and started working the crowd. Hilda (all 80-something farmer's wife) pushed her walker right in front of Whitman and told her there would be "no politicking on the Plaza". All the wile, our local pols were working the Plaza with campaign materials.

You should've seen Whitman's face. Meg Whitman backed down to an old lady with a walker.

This town is probably split 50/50 with NO in-between.

There are no Whitman or Fiorina signs within miles of my house (and I live downtown).

Ya gotta love it.

Sonoman

My point is: the DEM candidates appear to be up substantially in both races, going into the last week. Why take a completely UNNECESSARY risk of "fucking" it up??

condoning it. Personally I laughed at the absurdity of it. As in "holy moly" what has this election season come to. Then I laughed at Meg's response which implied that she's running an "issues only" campaign. But at the very least I am glad the guy took responsibility for the banner by adding "By J. Tony Serra" instead of doing it anonymously.

57. Nope, you misunderstood me.
The keyword in my response was "absurdity".

Absurdity: The quality of being absurd or inconsistent with obvious truth, reason, or sound judgment.

That said, I think that laughing at the banner, and laughing because a person actually went so far as to make the banner, are two different things. One implies that you agree with the message, the other does not.
