"We don't believe that war is the method to
solve conflicts," says Brazil President-elect
Dilma Rousseff.

(CNN) -- Brazil will maintain its ties with Iran, but always for peaceful ends only, the country's president-elect, Dilma Rousseff, said in an interview with CNN en Español. She added that war is not the way to resolve international conflicts.

"We don't believe that war is the method to solve conflicts. You will never see Brazil occupying itself with war," Rousseff said. She spoke to CNN en Español's Patricia Janiot in her first international interview since winning the presidency on Sunday.

As Brazil plays a increasingly larger role in international affairs, Rousseff said her country is committed to "systematically defending peace in the Middle East and the rights of those countries, including Israel and Palestine, to have their states."

With respect to Latin America, the president-elect said that she would amplify the voice of "this strategic relationship to the maximum" so that region's voice could be heard on the global stage in a coordinated way.

3. Brazil Prosecutor Wants Probe of 'Hate' Messages (directed at Rousseff supporters)
A wave of alleged hate messages posted on Twitter immediately after Brazil's presidential elections must be investigated, a federal prosecutor said Thursday. Janice Ascari said she has asked that law intern Mayara Petruso of Sao Paulo and others be investigated for allegedly using Twitter to incite prejudice and discrimination against people from Brazil's impoverished northeast.

Ascari said that Petruso had posted messages asking people to kill northeastern Brazilians in reprisal for Dilma Rousseff's victory in Sunday's presidential election. Rousseff enjoys wide support in the northeast and won a majority of the votes there.

While no killings are known to have taken place because of the messages, the postings "constitute a form of hate crime because they foster discrimination and prejudice and call for the killing of a specific group of people," Ascari said. Residents of Brazil's wealthier and more developed south often look down on people from the poorer northeast, many of whom migrate to the south in search of better jobs and living conditions.

Luiz Flavio Borges D'Urso who heads the Sao Paulo chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association said "we cannot tolerate xenophobic, racist and prejudicial attitudes, especially coming from a law student who instead of seeking social peace ... incites others to hate."

6. The US's attempts to force choices from other countries is what has wrought so many murders,
infinite torture sessions, and the outright disappearances of Latin Americans for ages.

That is why Latin America is become MORE resolute to make certain their solidarity will be able to develope WITHOUT buttinskis from the U.S. attempting to do the driving for them in their own nations' business.
