North Korea bombardment: two civilian bodies found on island
Source: Telegraph (UK)

The South Korean Coast Guard found the bodies of two men on a destroyed construction site on the island. They're believed to be in their sixties. The discovery comes a day after a frightening military skirmish between the Koreas ratcheted tensions on the peninsula to new extremes.

As North Korea’s only international ally and important economic donor, China has refused to issue an outright condemnation of Tuesday’s attack, but was coming under increasing pressure from the US and Japan to be more pro-active in helping deal with Pyongyang’s belligerence. Stephen Bosworth, the US special envoy on North Korea, left Beijing on Wednesday morning after further talks with his Chinese counterparts which he described as “useful”.

However in a statement before departing, Mr Bosworth made little attempt to hide US differences with China over how to handle North Korea, calling on Beijing to condemn Pyongyang’s actions.

“We call on all members of the international community to condemn the DPRK’s acts and to make clear that they expect the DPRK to cease all provocations and implement its denuclearization commitments,” said Mr Bosworth, using the acronym for North Korea's official name.

1. I wish there was footage/evidence regarding these events.
It would be good if the veil could be lifted over such events to make things totally clear. I am not saying that N. Korea did not engage in provocation, but after Panama, Iraq, etc., I will never simply trust media or government reports concerning any such things.

2. "Any such things" is, of course, a narrow set of issues.
Chomsky et al. pointed out very neatly that asymmetries were crucial in understanding underlying structure. They did with wrt linguistics in stipulating right-branching structures and only with left-raising as viable options. Very neat, very restricted formal theory. That they've modified things doesn't diminish their initial insights, they've just restated them in different ways.

I think the same is true for the structure of value systems, not just linguistic systems.
