Justice Roberts urges end to partisan fights blocking action on federal judges
Source: Washington Post

There is an "urgent need" for Senate Democrats and Republicans to put aside their bickering and fill federal judicial vacancies, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. wrote Friday in his annual State of the Judiciary report.

It was his first comment about the partisan gridlock on judges that affects President Obama's nominees. But Roberts noted that Democratic and Republican presidents have been frustrated by the "persistent problem" of senators from the opposing party blocking action on nominees.

"Each political party has found it easy to turn on a dime from decrying to defending the blocking of judicial nominations, depending on their changing political fortunes," he wrote. "This has created acute difficulties for some judicial districts."

Roberts said he was "heartened" that the Senate recently approved half of Obama's 38 pending nominees.

There's only one party doing the blocking at the moment Chief Justice - the ones you align with.

1. Yeah, but since
his court is the final word, it doesn't really matter who sits below him. He's there for life. He controls the agenda quite a bit so it really doesn't matter if a liberal or a conservative sits on a lower court. He's still the top dog.

2. Since there is a blocking in there, let me explain how that is a continuation of the conversation.
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 08:36 PM by RandomThoughts
The statement in there is 'you are doing it to yourself' function not data, only about the line you typed in metaphor. It is a reply to a conversation across multiple threads. Mix metaphor with the news article, more likely sourcing to Moon group.

There are some that think the thoughts of trying to think on better thoughts are the blockers, if you can get rid of thoughts of better ideas, you can do what you want, then all the things like wealth and luxury become easy.

It is the thought that also saw the other posts differently in a material way.

How are better thoughts stopping the proper correction of beer and travel money due? It is many people that have not corrected that except they think, as said in that metaphor, that all I need to do is give up the concepts of justice with compassion to get rid of those blockers.

The exact same argument that thinking a person should try to do what they feel is better is self righteousness, as posted many times by many groups that sometimes think doing evil is the gift from God of grace.

It is phenomenon of opposites maybe, but not my blockers causing the problem. They are saying if I just be evil, I will have everything I want and need. I am saying if they just uphold justice with compassion I will have everything I want and need.

They have blockers keeping them from justice with compassion, my blockers keeping them from getting me to agree with there doctrine.

That is why they try to say I do it to myself, by not accepting an existence of evil as what existence is.

Although I do agree in balance, since it makes sense, not 'do anything' concept. For many reasons posted in many places.

Side note, what I want and need is an easier representation for a larger topic, not about me, about the concept of justice and compassion, versus do what ever you want without a conscious. The two sides of the discussion.

3. While that is strictly true, it is a signal. Nonetheless.
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 08:38 PM by WingDinger
He isn't going to embolden partisan gridlock, in perpetuity. He would be considered a monster. The quintessential activist judge, transparent as hell. He is feeling the pressure of rubber stamping right wing and neocon positions, in rhetoric. This is the signal of that.

Baggers think they have a mandate to shut down gov. at all levels. How wrong they would be. Already, the right wing is blaming unions, and foot-dragging, as the slowdown, to get their snow blown. THEIR SNOW. Blown. Faster. Or they will cripple Bloomberg. These baggers play dirty. All innuendo, and smear. They will reach saturation, I PROMISE YOU ALL. We will laugh in their faces, at the appointed time.

And they will roast THOSE that BECOME INEFFECTUAL.

They are all corrupt evil men that are actively working for worldwide corporate dictatorship and the end of democracy.

14. It is to PUKE....
...for the coverboy for slowing or preventing the seating of nominees you don't know personally to even comment on this subject. Shut up, weasel dick-it's bad enough you have a vote without your opining mouth running to smarmy platitudes that are belied by your very existence.

15. When oh when will the Dems learn to fight back?
16 years have gone by and the Repugnants still are unbloodied and unbowed.

Our glorious leaders have not yet learned the power of the word NO...or even NO MORE.

27. And Yahoo is spinning the story
Chief justice urges progress naming judges
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110101/ap_on_re_us/us_supreme_court_year_end
p.s Obama has 'named/nominated' tons that are waiting in limbo - 43 to be exact - the problem is not 'naming' them, the problem is getting past the republicans obstruction and getting them 'confirmed'

List of Obama's nominees - federal judges confirmed and those still waiting for confirmation
