Global spam e-mail levels suddenly fall
Source: BBC News

The amount of junk e-mail being sent across the globe has seen a dramatic fall in recent months.

The volume of spam has dropped steadily since August, but the Christmas period saw a precipitous decline.

One security firm detected around 200 billion spam messages being sent each day in August, but just 50 billion in December.

While the reasons for the decline are not fully understood, spam watchers warn the lull may not last.

1. Add SPAM to the list of mysterious dying of creatures around the world.
I will miss the barking of Spams at the crack of dawn.

3. right-wing emails
have dropped off since the election. They finally figured out that Bill Gates will not send them $244 for each email they send from everyone in their address book. Either that, or because they are now getting an inheritance from Nigeria. :sarcasm:

9. No more money to steal
I think the spammers finally figured out that there just aren't enough people left who have money to spend on the vain hope of a larger p3n1s, a million-dollar windfall from Nigeria, or cheap meds for that matter. The money in spam was always in the odds - there actually were enough responders to make it worthwhile financially.
