Dick Winters, of 'Band of Brothers' fame, dies

Dick Winters, the former World War II commander whose war story was told in the book and miniseries “Band of Brothers,” has died.
Dick Winters led a quiet life on his Fredericksburg farm and in his Hershey home until the book and miniseries “Band of Brothers” threw him into the international spotlight.

but there was a divisional quota on them during the Normandy campaign and the 101st had already awarded its allotment.

22. Very sad, but he certainly led a remarkable life, was a real-life hero.
I saw the mini-series and it's stayed with me, especially Winters, a brave soldier and a likable human being. Godspeed, Major Winters... ;( :patriot:
