Council to hold retreat at resort outside county
Source: Washington Examiner

The Prince George's County Council is spending $10,000 to $15,000 for a two-night retreat on the Eastern Shore this week.

Ingrid Turner, chairwoman of the County Council, said she chose to spend more money on this year's retreat, even as the county faces a $77 million shortfall next fiscal year, to help council members avoid distractions.

Seems like a waste of money to me.

2. They nearly always are a comple, unproductive waste of time. And money.
If anyone deserves such a retreat, it's anyone who works for minimum wage.

These folks make good coin and can afford to pay for their own damn spa treatments.

Distractions = public input and involvement usually. Our local council did the same thing down here after a tornado, then came up with a horrible developer friendly redevelopment plan for our entire downtown area. They were brazen enough to have a clause allowing the use of the power of eminent domain to take property to give it to a developer for for private use in for profit development projects.
