Journal NewsFormer Gov. George Pataki is stepping down as honorary chairman of Revere America, a grassroots group that is “dedicated to finding free-market solutions to national problems,” according to a news release the organization released today.
“It has been an honor to lead Revere America through this critical formative period and more importantly to advance the effort to repeal and replace the (federal) health-care law,” Pataki said in a statement. “A federal judge has now rightfully declared that law unconstitutional, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to repeal and replace it, and Revere America played an active role int he historic 2010 campaign that made that vote possible.”
Pataki, New York’s governor from 1995 through 2006, said this is a good time for him to step down, “based on my other commitments and the fact that Revere America has been successfully launched. I will continue to play an active role in our national discussion and will work to advance policies that promote and preserve American freedoms.”
Marianne R.P. Zuk, president and CEO of Revere America, said the group is grateful to Pataki for his service. The organization has campaigned in more than 20 states and spent millions of dollars in direct advocacy in last year’s federal elections to help lawmakers who back the “support the repeal and replace movement” for the health-care law, she said.

Whatever will George do to keep busy now? Perhaps he's thinking of a winter vacation in New Hampshire?
