New Park51 Leader To Step Down
Source: NY1 News

The latest religious leader to join the controversial Islamic community center planned near the World Trade Center site announced today that he is parting ways with the project.

Word of Imam Abdallah Adhami’s decision comes on the heels of an exclusive NY1 report about the imam's views on homosexuality.

Adhami says he is stepping down from his position as senior advisor, less than a month after joined the project. Adhami has been under fire ever since NY1 first reported last week about his views on homosexuality. In a lecture the imam sells on the Internet, he says most homosexuality is brought on by abuse.

“An enormously, overwhelming percentage of people struggle with homosexual feeling because of some form of violent emotional or sexual abuse at some point in their life,” he says. “A small, tiny percentage of people are born with a natural inclination they cannot explain. You find this in the animal kingdom on some level as well.”

2. I don't think that topic is relevant to beer and travel money issue.
I am straight but understand blockers like that can exist in many interpretations of things.

But if people are 'gay' or 'strait' that doesn't effect me as long as they don't hit on me when I tell them I am strait. So not sure what that has to do with the beer and travel money I am due. Haven't heard how that effects society badly either. Seems to effect some people when they think about other people being gay, because I would guess they have some internal guilt from thinking gay thoughts occasionally.

Maybe 'gay thoughts' are dropped into strait peoples minds to make fun of them judging other people that are not hurting them?

Or maybe some societal entity wants a higher reproductive rate in its group, and thinks that gay is an attempt to lower its reproduction rates. That is the 'game' argument for that. But if it is your group, why would they be made gay? That is where the game thought is shown wrong.

Or maybe society has changed, and some system knows that more gay people will lower population growth without having to kill a bunch of people.

Maybe it is a sin because it was written down that way years ago, and you don't have to think or feel anything else about the topic, because it was a sin thousands of years ago, it must be a sin today? right?

Even if that was true, I am not gay, so why would it be an issue if someone else was? I can't explain why they should not be gay, accept to say that women are sexually attractive and men are not, but that is my view on things.

4. WOW! These Muslims are so radical!
If this was a Christian Center & it was a Christian preacher who said this about homosexuality the Right Wing via FOX "News" & Talk Radio would be praising his views on homosexuality!

I am in no way defending what this Imam said but it is crystal clear these Sufi Muslims are not radical at all compared to the majority of Christians in this country!
