Alvin Greene soundly defeated in bid for state legislature seat
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) – Surprise candidate Alvin Greene was soundly defeated in his second bid for elective office on Tuesday. He captured only 37 votes or just about .01% of the 3,892 cast in a Democratic primary to fill a state legislature seat to cover an area including his hometown of Manning, South Carolina.

Greene originally shocked the political world when as a political novice he won an upset victory in South Carolina's U.S. Senate Democratic primary last year.

Many Democrats urged Greene to pull out of that race after his win because of criminal charges alleging he had previously shown pornography to a college student against her wishes. He has pleaded not guilty. He also gained national notoriety when he gave halting performances during television interviews at times unable to answer reporters' questions.

In the general election, Greene lost badly to incumbent Republican Sen. Jim DeMint 62-28 percent.

7. To be fair, 37 is about 1% of 3892 not 0.01%.
Just saying.
