Worst-case scenario for education is 20,000 layoffs in Florida

While promising to create a world-class education system, Gov. Rick Scott has simultaneously proposed the deepest cuts for Florida public schools by any governor in recent history.

In a worst-case scenario, they would lead to more than 20,000 layoffs of teachers and other personnel in the state's 67 school districts.

The threat of layoffs comes at the same time Scott and lawmakers are pushing to make other major changes that will impact teachers, including revamping the way they are hired, fired and evaluated and requiring them to help pay for their pensions...

bush and his push to build private schools threw out the country , looks like cheney is still in control with his mind control , to all puke goveners , fook the teachers as fast as you all can , hit em hard and dirty , these fooken repukes make me pissed

6. Wisconsin is just the beginning...
Ohio is going to be a public sector union bloodbath and there isn't much anyone can do to stop it. And Florida, if people thought the stuff Crist veto'd was bad, wait till Scott and an increasingly overwhelmingly Republican legislature put their plan out - and this time no one will veto it.

7. Rick Scott wants to privatize public schools... get his hands on all that public funding...
Why else would he spend $78 Million of his own money to get elected to a job that pays $130K per year?

He knows the amount of money in the cookie jar and he and his buddies at the Broad Foundation will get every penny of it in no time at all.
