Congressman calls his vote for labor measure a mistake

A surprising vote by U.S. Rep. Bobby Schilling, R-Ill., and two dozen other House Republicans last month has upset some conservatives.

Schilling has acknowledged his vote on the budget amendment was a mistake, and he says he'll vote the other way next time.


Schilling and 25 other House Republicans voted against a proposal that would have prevented federal funds from being used for construction projects requiring a project labor agreement, or PLA.

Critics of such agreements, including many conservatives, say they drive up costs and favor unions.
