WI Recall Pt 2: Poll shows Dems could retake Senate
Source: Teamster Nation

TeamsterNation got a sneak peek at a poll that's coming out today about the recall effort in Wisconsin. DailyKos will release them at 11 a.m. (EDT). The polls were conducted March 11-13.

Democrats need to retake three seats in order to regain control of the Senate. Kos tells us

Senator Dan Kapanke trails a generic Democrat 55-41
Senator Randy Hopper trails 49-44
Senator Luther Olsen trails 49-47

It looks close, but this poll has me hopeful.

1. I'm in Kapanke's district and I signed his recall petition last week.
They are running some great tv ads here linking him directly with Walker. Let's hope that everyone gets out there and votes to have him and all the others recalled. The cherry on top would be to get rid of Walker next year.

3. I don't understand why people still support republicans
in this situation. Getting rid of unions won't solve anything.

4. Old stupid white people clutching their guns and watching Faux.
The good news is that they are... old.

The bad news is that the GOP and Faux are probably creating a new generation of paranoid, dumb people.

6. Don't want to pick an argument here but, it seems to me
that the "old people" are the ones fighting for the unions because they know the sacrifices that have been made. Most of the non-union people I see are the young ones who say "why should I help pay for your...". They have no idea of union history. Then you have the tea-baggers, they'll oppose anything dems favor, not matter what.

14. Yeah, I regret that broad brush a bit.
Sadly, the shoe pretty much fits. The average Fox News viewer and 2010 voter for the opposition was over 65.

Hopefully the 'old people' who are on the side of light will get to the polls for the Wisconsin recalls and the 2012 election.

20. I think its just that there are an aweful lot of people
the crowds I saw in pictures of Wisconsin sure look a lot more balanced, age wise, than the tea party meetups that get news time.

9. Question
If we retake the Senate, what are the odds of overturning the anti union law?

Won't they still control the House and Exec. office? Would we be able to over ride a veto?

13. Slim until that Gov. is recalled in Jan.
Only because he will probably veto any thing that would roll it back.

15. Generic candidates do better than real ones
This poll is encouraging, but I won't start cheering until there are specific Democrats in the race.

17. These polls aren't as good as I would have expected...
As someone else said, generic candidates tend to poll better than real ones. And with generics it looks like we have 1 of their people on the ropes, but are only marginally beating 2 of their other senators - and this is at the height of the protest movement when we should have the most energy. Also, I do believe the teabaggers/Republicans are trying to recall some Dem senators in an effort to offset any losses they may suffer.

What really matters are the make up of these people's districts and of course voter turnout.

We'd better win here. We are going all in on this and if the Republicans manage to hold on and avoid losing the Senate they will be even more vicious than they are now. A defeat on these recalls would be an absolute catastrophe for us.

21. Yup.
Those are scary polls, from my POV, and I would feel pretty good getting them if I were a Wisconsin R.

Hopefully having it become a real contest rather than a hypothetical "if it were to happen" will make a difference. I think that there may be something in that, since the mere fact that they were put to a recall may push through some mental complacency. Who wants a loser, and all that.
